I have been trying for years to find a decent KD-12 or KD-12P. Last year I came across a KD-12 in Ottawa ON and was able to ship it to home – costing me a small fortune. I was disappointed to find out the whole interior tub finish was totally worn to a powder and in rust condition. Several months ago a lovely women near Portland OR contacted me about if I was interested in her KD-12. This past weekend I picked up the dishwasher. The dishwasher was in decent shape, but it needs some work to get it going again. Such as a new pump impeller/seal and drain valve seal. Although the tub finish is in its early stages of powder, I am OK until I found some rust penetrating the bottom of the tub under the door – so the tub life may be limited :( NOW, I am on a international
look for a decent tub and door liner!

If anyone have he following spare KD–12 parts, could you email me at bobsochowski@msn.com

What I am looking for are the following:
- pump impeller and seal
- drain valve with a decent seal
- front interior door panel
- SS blower vent cover
- a tub for a KD-12 kicking around that is still in a glossy enamel condition – I am interested.

Thank you!
Cheers,

Bob

Best Bet?

Bob, don't even try to get this thing back together part by part. It hasn't been manufactured since the early 60's and most parts would have been obsoleted by Hobart 15 years after the production ended especially the tanks and doors. The heavy mechanical parts like motors, seals and commercial(all metal) pump housings and impellers went on til the mid 90's. However they are, where available, super expensive, just ask Ed Toploader!

Your best bet would be to try to find another complete unit and cobble them together. There are still alot of them out there so just be patient. Who knows, you may find someone right here who has one he or she is willing to give up!

YES being patient is the key for success and happiness!

I lucked out a few months ago – a fellow from Seattle had a huge inventory of brand new Hobart dishwasher parts (including some Kitchen Aid dishwasher parts). Basically, the parts are for the commercial Hobart dishwasher which was very similar to the KD-12 domestic version – the only difference is the pump housing is SS and uses only the bottom rack (no top rack) – also the tub was SS.

YES I ended up buying the whole lot! I made him an offer. I ended up a room full of parts including a commercial bottom rack, SS rack runners, springs, pump housing, strainers, screws, pump gaskets, some seals, timers (for the commercial model, model M300) , motor rotors, pump solenoid and other various parts. Now I just have to wait for my new baby!
My aunt in the farm had this commercial model, man – I would love to find one of these gems! I guess the odds for a domestic version is easier to find then a commercial version. I am curious if anyone would have any literature or a model number of the Hobart commercial version (similar to the KD-12)?

Cheers,

Bob
