I have this Hotpoint Dishwasher. I was wondering if anyone out there had a copy of the manual they could send me. Also mine currently has the gravity drain on it, but I have been told some of them did come with a pump. What kind of pump would fit on it? Was the pump just for hotpoint or would other pumps fit on it? Thanks for any help.

I don't have the exact manual for this model, but I have a 'general' repair manual for dishwashers of this type and it just happens to use a Hotpoint machine with a gravity drain as an illustration of a 'typical' dishwasher. If this would help, please email me your snail mail address and I can photocopy the book and send it to you.

If you follow the wiring diagram on the kick panel (or maybe it's on the timer housing), you can see a couple of terminals (they may even be called something like P1 and P2) that allow you to fit an electric pump to the unit, so that the timer will then switch on the electric pump during the drain phase, rather than just gravity draining. Others can recommend good pumps to use; many have fit gravity-drain KitchenAid dishwashers with pumps to resolve just this issue. Happily, since the timer provides for the pump mechanism, it will only run when needed. The trick will be adapting it (with no leaks) to the existing drain port. |

That fill twirly on the top of the tank was very limed-up and needs to be descaled to spin and work properly. Don't install it under your counter until you test and observe the machine first--the entire top of the dishwasher was filling up with water because of that scaly assembly the last time we used it.
