Don't know exactly....... Could be anything from a 1970 to a 1979. Safe to say that if it's in this time frame, then you got the REAL thing.

In 1980, the look was maintained for a while, but only the lid and the insides have changed (for the worse). They were taken over White Consolidated Industries, and what they did to the Frigidaire was take a Frigidaire body and put some Westinghouse insides into it.

In my opinion, that's the day the REAL Frigidaire died.

But again, yours looks like a 1970-70 1-18. And the Jet Cone Agitator gives away as well. So what you got is a REAL Frigidaire 1-18.

It's a 1977 model. In 1976(late 1975) FRIGIDAIRE did away with using the left over wood trim from the GM auto line and went more into colors instead of wood trim.GRAB IT!!!

New FRIGIDAIRE Crown

laundromat's profile picture
The other give away is the new crown design. In 1973,the "Touch N Cook"electric ceramatop range was introduced and had the new 4 point FRIGIDAIRE crown emblem on it. The next year,1974,they redesigned it on the entire free standing ranges and also introduced the new Electri-Clean oven models with their new see through oven window. Then ,in 1976,they followed thrugh adding it to the built in ovens,cooktops,Twin-30 and Compact 30 built in electric cooking products and microwave ovens. Then, finaly, late that same year, they changed it on the laundry and dishwashers.I know all the members here who, like myself ,had that wonderfull ilness about us---(FRIGIDAIRE_ITUS)were, at that time, completely unaware that the end was near.I did a double take when I saw the "Touch N Cook" on display and,at first, questioned the new emblem.I wrote to Mr.Ferris (CEO for FRIGIDAIRE SALES CORPORATION,220 W.Hunting Park Ave. in Philadelphia,PA.1966-1979)who said it was their new emblem and would eventualy be on all their new products.

A nice 1-18, still has the lint filter, which is important, no laundry room is complete without a piston GMFR, in my humble opinion.

No matter how much you assure them, cash in hand talks louder.
