Because the mechanics of the machine have been rotated 180 degrees so that they can be worked on from the front by the store owner.

I am currently trying to sell 6 of them... Anyone need some GE transmissions?

What year?

We had a residential model GE Filter Flo set that had the same tub, agitator and filter pan and the same color combo and lettering font on the control panel as the one in the pictures. It was a 1991 model. I believe the last year for the Filter-flo design was 1994 or 1995. GE replaced them with the plastic tub models with the poor transmission design. What a shame...

Mine have the same control panel, installed in 1996.

Oh holy cow! WATER USE! When you pop the top and fill it, you'd pass out cold to see all the water in there that is not in the wash basket seeing the action. It's truly incredible. And in a commercial establishment, it is unjustifiable to keep them.

At the same time, I replaced them with the last REAL Maytag tops. I couldn't let them get away. Besides, after adjusting the rinse to be 3 minutes, my customers actually like them better. One thing they did miss was the Filter-Flo! They liked seeing the lint at the end of the cycle.
