Very Cool! 63... this a Multi-matic then? Hardly sturdy!

I have this machine in Coppertone. She's sturdy all right. One of my "daily drivers". A great machine!

That's the washer my parents had when I was in high school. You are right, one of the most beautiful Frigidaires ever made. That lighted control panel will really light up the entire laundry room.

You don't see many of these specific models available anymore, do you?

If you look closely this machine or very close, is in the original "Jaws" movie. just a little trivia :-)

I like the "Time-Line" type timer and "piano-key" type buttons. It certainly does a good overflow-rinse----must be five minutes long!

What's the difference between w'n'w Man Made & Delicate--just a slow agitation on delicate but normal on the other, but both with a warm wash? I imagine the other w''n'w is hot wash.

I'll have to leave this question to Steve since both of the water valves were sticking during the handful of washes I put through it 11 months ago, but I believe you nailed it.

A new kind of washer like this is worth looking into

roto204's profile picture
God, so beautiful. Isn't it amazing how much they actually tried to put effort into making these machines look like something you'd gladly have in your living room, and even brag about to company?

Nowadays, most machines end up hiding in the dark corner of the basement and are styled such that they look like they belong there. Blecch.

Well, I guess Dan took care of the photo-op. I'll still add some maybe this evening.

I spoke with Appnut last night to answer the cycle questions. He has a great memory.

My machine still has the original detergent column/Three-Ring Agitator in it combined with the larger tub introduced in '62.
IMO this was the best cleaning system Frigidaire ever came up with. The larger tub slows the roll-over some and even when using lots of wash time, I never have a tangling issue. IMO the Three-Ring washes better than the "Deep-Action" Jet-Cone introduced in '65. However, in '65 they finally brought back the "Rapidry" spin!
The people I know who have the '65-'69 models with Rapidry AND have converted them to a Three-Ring Agitator absolutely LOVE them! The best of both era's.

That's a beautiful washer. Brings back memories of my mother's 1963 Custom Deluxe washer that was used for over 30 years until the outer tub rusted out. Someone on Craigslist- SF in San Mateo had a 1963 Custom Imperial for sale two years ago.

WOW What a beauty!!

Thanks for the pictures. Looking forward to your pictures also Steve.

Wish we had frigidaires longer in the UK. There was one I think in the 60s but ive never seen one. Shame they didn't keep selling them here. I would love to own one as am fascinated by the wash action. There are 3 coin op ones still in a launderette in my home town. It was originally all frigidaire washers and still has it's original Frigidaire sign up outside. I must get some pics next time im back visiting my parents. Not sure if they are 60s or 70s machines. I hope they will still be there next time im back.

Mark
