Hi,

You guys helped me fix the soap doors on my mother's kitchenaid
KUDS230B.

Now occasionally the soap in the second stage compartment sticks in the compartment and is left there in a hard, solid clump when finished? Both doors open fine. The soap is left in the open compartment. This has only happened a couple of times out of many washes. It seems to have happen when my elderly mother filled the soap compartments. Would overfilling them cause this?

thanks again!

stuck soap

the water flow to the soap dispenser was probably blocked by a tall piece in the machine. if this happens only once in a while, IMHO, the water flow is the problem, since the cover of the dispenser is opening.

Check that the dispenser cover is not being blocked from opening all the way also. In my GE Tall tub The dispenser lid doesn't open all the way sometimes due to interference from the upper rack, especially if something heavy is in it. Opening the door will allow the cover to spring back the rest of the way and the detergent washes away almost immediately.

There are two dispensers. They both appeared open all the way.
If something had blocked the water flow wouldn't the other "side
by side dispenser" have not emptied also?

The soap was left in the open door in a petrified chuck :-)

It is important to load the dispenser(s) just before starting the macnine, not before. Ensure the dispensers are DRY before putting detergent in them.

One must also purge the water in the hot water line (by running the kitchen faucet) to be HOT, before starting the DW. Cold water does not dissole detergent as readily.

One must also ensure that the detergent is relatively fresh and stored in a cool, dry place. Under the kithcen sink is not always the best place for it.

It can't hurt to store the DW detergent in a plastic pouring bottle/container (a handled model helps when lifting) to keep the detergent dry and fresh.

OK

If someone forgot to purge the line would this have had any
effect with our model? It has a heating water stage.

How about the detergent? It looks visually OK. Would it be
obvious by just looking at it? We've been using Cascade.
I have a box of Electrasol I'm going to try.

It happened again. This time just a small clump left.
I didn't run the machine myself. It hasn't happened when I've
run it.

thanks again

One thing you might try, to eliminate the possibility of the dishwasher being loaded incorrectly and something is blocking the dispenser, is to run the dishwasher empty to see if there is any detergent left in the dispensers.

OK, but it doesn't happen all the time.

It could be the way it was loaded.

I'm going to try and keep the silverware
basket less full in the middle near the
soap doors. And a new box of Electrasol :-)

Well by coincidence, I had the same thing happen to me last night - opened the dishwasher and the detergent tab is still in the dispenser. The only thing I did different was instead of putting the pizza pan (quite large) at the very left of the lower rack, I moved it over to the right by 1 row. What I think happened is that when the door is closed, the pizza pan butted right against the dispenser door stopping it from opening.
