Instead of fighting the holiday crowds, I stayed inside this weekend to work on a couple of nagging problems... First, that blasted pilot light on the 56 GE dishwasher was still a problem. When I did the first full load test, the original wiring was all hooked up and the light still wasn't lighting. I also noticed a slight ground fault at the timer dial. I took the easy way out - I disconnected the original wiring and hooked up a regular transformer (like you'd use on a wireless phone or an MP3 player) in parallel with the motor. The light now lights - it clicks off as the motor pauses during the fill part of the cycle but will now glow and change from green during the pre-wash and wash, yellow during the rinse, and red during the dry cycle. I took a really bad picture but you should be able to make out the green glow. Next phase will be installing the unit in the 'new' kitchen after the holidays!! |

We love lights! There aren't enough pretty colored lights on appliances today - no full-width fluorescent tubes illuminating work surfaces, it's sad! Congrats on your victory over the ravages of time and pests to your kitchen. I can't wait to hear more about the washer timer motor and see that in action! |

You would think that will all the LEDs they have now that it would be easy for a manufacturers to add lights to appliances but I guess other people are just not like us. Oh well, I saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra last week and talk about an LED light show, I think I got my fix for this year! Also, I may go to Disney World next year and look forward to going on Mission: Space and one reason is the lights in that ride. Why is it we have to go into Pittsburgh or go to Orlando and spend big money to get my "light fix"?

Since you are from Florida, tell me, which is better, the lights at Greg or Robert's or Mission: Space? Here's a link to compare:
