I'm talking about the ones that have that tiny disk instead of an agitator that churns the clothes. Anyway, when I was six we owned a 70's ge portable washer that ran great and only had one problem it shook hard. A couple months into owning it After the spin cycle I smelt something burning in the drum I did not think of it being a bad thing until the next afternoon mom had a few loads of laundry to do and on the final load when it got to the final drain cycle the motor shut off a few seconds into the drain cycle and smoke started billowing from inside the washer and the only thing running on the washer was it's loud clicking timer. Now heres my question what caused the billowing smoke and motor shutting off was it the motor the smoke was coming from? Anyone with theory please tell me your theories. The washer never got fixed by the way, and I really loved that washer especially it's loud high pitched motor sound during the nuetral drain and spin cycle and the sound of it coasting down.
