Washer

Closeup of the washer. This came off a trade in pile, only thing I found wrong was someone cut the cord.

Electric dryer. This came from Craigslist.

Old set

The "replacements" are for this set. We've had this set about 13-14 years. I had the new DC+ washer for about a month, but picked up the dryer from CL last Saturday. Talk about timing, my wife was using this set last Sunday and told me the dryer wasn't working. The motor went out!
The washer has been bulletproof, I put a set of belts on it, since it's rescue from a trade pile. The dryer was also rescued, but over the years it's needed 2 elements, a set of support pads, 3 blower wheels, a used motor(now needs another one), motor start switch, and burned connections repaired.

I have the same dryer, except my signal control is a sliding up & down lever like the water level on the wwasher.

Must be for different loudness levels. This one is just on and off.

They're great! I like the look of the white-based console a lot---very sharp. Many trouble-free loads to you.

Are these the same as or similar to the older center dial Maytags of the past? I mean mechanically... before they started swapping parts around from other brands they bought up?

yes, "infinite" buzzer sound levels. The similar dryer my mom got from Circuit city did not have the 4th (air fluff) temp button. Air fluff cycle was achieved by using the Press Care of the PP cycle and turning the signal button off. My dryer is the exact match to your wassher, bought 12/07/1994.

The seller of the dryer told me it was about 5 years old. Looks like it's double that!

Kevin, I believe those are similar to the older Maytag's mechanically.

Yeah, pretty much identical except for the tranny. Speaking of the trans, you might want to swap transmissions with your 10 series before making it your daily driver. I have yet to hear positive comment about the orbital transmission from those who previously owned the older 180 degree stroked pitman driven transmissions.

My favorite models

By far my favorite Maytag Set. Love the sound of the splish splash agitator.
