One of you may want this one. It's a little too vintage for me:

Hmmm.... it's not that far from me...

Neat pull-out - judging by the trim and the inside colour, I am guessing it's a 54 or 55 model.

I'm a sucker for Impeller Dishwashers

Hi, my name is Mike.

I bought this dishwasher, but on Ebay, and it was a great deal! However, the seller might have made a mistake when he listed it for sale on Ebay.

The Craigslist ad clearly listed the selling price as $100, plus the ad has a reference to Ebay. However, the Ebay auction listed the opening bid amount as $9.99 - with a comment at the bottom of the description regarding the fact that the reserve amount is not disclosed (or was the decimal point misplaced?). I had written to the seller to determine if the dishwasher had yet been removed and asked for photos of the current "as is" condition. He wrote back: "Professionally removed - cant answer all the questions - not at home to take photos - good luck bidding - I was there during the removal and personally carried out the frame and diswasher". I had an immediate mental image of a big box store installer hacking the hell out of the dishwasher getting it out!

I vasillated back and forth on whether to buy this machine - even consulting with "gedish1947", who really wants one of these too. I had come to the conclusion that because of the long distance from New York to Illinois, it was going to be too expensive to buy and ship this machine. But one hour before the end of the auction, I choked - thinking "What the heck - it's only $10" so I placed the bid. I was almost certain that there would be a $100 reserve, but to my surprise, no comments were displayed about the reserve not being met, and I won the auction. I'm hoping the "professional" didn't totally trash it. I'm still in the process of working out the shipping details.

I saw this same model dishwasher, in yellow, at Jimmy's (Filterflo) Wash Party over the Thanksgiving weekend. I was drooling over his machine and some of the other dishwashers that he has. (He really has a wonderful Washing Machine, Dryer and Dishwasher collection!!!)

I've been pretty silent here. I joined aw.org back in July, but I've not yet contributed much yet about my collection. This will be my 9th impeller machine. I have a junk 1950 G.E. Electric Sink; 1948 G.E. Electric Sink; 1948 Hotpoint Dishwasher (White); 1951 G.E. Drawer Dishwasher (White); early 1950's Westinghouse Drawer Dishwasher (Yellow); 1958 G.E. MobileMaid Dishwasher (Beige with Pink interior). Then, waiting to be picked up from Wisconsin: 1937 G.E. Electric Sink (White with Black top); 1950 Hotpoint (White). I also have a mid-1950's James; 1955 Hobart KD-11P (White); and a 1960 Hobart KD-12 (Stainless).

I've made videos of three of the dishwashers operating, and will start a new discussion thread to introduce them.

For purposes of the archives, here are two more photos of the 1954/1955 G.E. Drawer Dishwasher just purchased.

great find!!!!!!!!!!!!!

beautiful dishwasher mike, i also hope it's in perfect sha21pe when you get it. as i told you on the phone i just had one shipped to me via U.P.S. from carolina, that kdi-16 i bought off e bay for 15 bucks! only cost me 100 bucks to have it shipped and it came in great shape, only one small dent in one of the legs of the frame. that could have been there before U.P.S. got it. all they did was turn it upside down, wrap cardboard around it thoroughly, wrap and tape a big cardboard box around it, and stick a label on it.!! i got in 3 days! it was shipped upside down so it was more stable as the top of the tub acted as a bottom reinforcer for the box.

e bay is great lately!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Mike

When this craigslist link was posted, I wondered if 1954/55
was to old for this machine since it has the blue interior.
IIRC the colored (pinks/blues) interiors are permatuff or tough; I thought they were newer , rather than older. Does
anyone know? The inside looks nice from what I see. Great price!!

soberleaf: Thanks. I talked to U.P.S on Friday and they will provide a box, plus cut it down in size to fit the machine. I will pursue that further on Monday. I want to check out other shipping options as well.

frontaloadotmy: Thanks. Below is a photo of my 1951 G.E. Drawer Dishwasher. I also went back and looked at the photos of Jimmy's G.E., and I was mistaken - it's different yet from both of these. Unless someone else can be more definitive, I'll just have to wait till I know the Model Number in order to determine age. However, I'm tending to place it later in the 1950's now.

1956???

When my family moved to Winston-Salem, NC, in 1956, many of our friends were building houses and could get GE wholesale through the college they all worked for. Many of them bought this GE pull-out dishwasher. They were work-horses.

You Crate Endorsement

dishwashercrazy's profile picture
I wanted to give an update on the G.E. Drawer Dishwasher in Fishkill, NY.

I just spoke with the You Crate folks - R&L Carriers Company today - Monday Feb 23. They will bring the Crate to the sellers house, load the dishwasher, and ship it to Illinois this Wednesday, Feb 25. I'm thrilled with the price quote of $267.81. This is considerably less than what Jim Hill estimated in the amount $400. It should arrive on Monday, March 2, provided all goes smoothly. I also spoke with the seller of the dishwasher as we were making the shipping arrangements. He mentioned that the "drawer" was sitting outside of the dishwasher frame - something that I suspected from his earlier email comments to me. I'm hoping and praying that the machine was not damaged in the removal process. I'll put more pictures up when it arrives next week.

Good save!

Congratulations - I am pleased this one is going to someone who will appreciate it!
I likewise hope that the machine hasn't been damaged in removal.. I got a nasty surprise when I bought a 59 GE pull-out and found that the cover lid was missing!
