And a suds saver, too. That's one I've decided I want -- either a Maytag or Whirlpool/Kenmore suds saver. Thanks for sharing. And good luck. Jerry Gay |

If people (buyers) knew the quality they were getting, they would say that $450 was the bargain of the century, compared to the crap today that costs over $1000. Bobby in Boston |

Really nice set. Never start at the top of your asking price on line, do that privately in email communications if not on ebay. |

Nice set - but odd. Some research would be required to validate this - but IIRC the gold panels debuted on the revised 02 series washers and Big Load dryers (dryer pictured is a HOH). Also, I think gold panel machines came out in 1975. Another sign that the washer is later is the model tag under the lid. What is the serial number on both - this would help to understand when they were made. I mention this because the lighted wash tub stopped around/by 1973 - making it a bit odd that this would still have a lighted wash tub - near the time they removed the chrome strip along the front of the machine/s. Both machines look nice but be careful when offering items for sale - Philip's advice is wise. Ben |

Hey Matt - I just noticed the serial numbers. The washer wouldn't have come from the factory with a lighted tub. If by chance it does I suspect that someone added it then at a later date. Dryer - September of 1975 Washer - October of 1975 You are right Scott, these really are at the very end of the HOH run. Just a few months later the Big Load came out. Ben |

Ben: Check the 1976 brochure, before the almond color was introduced. I think the 806 still had a tub light at that point. Harvestgold: Amen! Bobby in Boston |

Bobby & Ben, WOW, it's really something to see a tub light on a gold panel 806 like this! From what I've read in various threads on the site I was under the impression Maytag stopped the tub light in 1973 - 1974. Ben, you say this machine (W/tub light) was built in August of '75... well the white A806 I just sold was built (according to Ben) in December 1975 and it did NOT have a tub light! The photo is the ID plate off the 806 I just sold. VERY INTERESTING!!! Now the next question is did Maytag put tub lights in ALL 806's until they stopped or was it a random thing? |

Hey Kevin - thanks for posting your serial tag! This is very good info. I'll have to check the Let's Talk Service books. I *think* I have most of the 1975 year to see what it says. Maybe they made the change sometime between October and December in '75? Thankfully changes like these were documented in the service lit. Ben |

Could it be that the factory used up all the tub covers with light openings so that some of the earlier gold panel 806's had tub lights and some didn't? Geoff Delp, send your help! Bobby in Boston |
