I have a 2 year old Kenmore HE2+. When it washes clothes, each tub support spring makes a terrible noise as the inside of its "hook" rubs against the metal frame that supports it. The Sears repairman said that's just how they are and there is nothing that can be done about it.
I hate the noise. I bet if I can get a nylon or plastic insert placed in there between the spring and the frame it would stop the noise. I've already tried lithium grease to no avail.
Has anyone else had/SOLVED this problem?

Thanks for reading this.

That doesn't sound right at all.

But then I wouldn't trust anything a Sears repairman has to say.

Call Whirlpool.

No Help

If Whirlpool does not prove to be any help, try locating an appropriate piece of rubber hose with an inside diameter of the spring guage. Slide a short piece onto the hook of the spring and see if that will quiet it down.

Upon further investigation:

The noise seems to be from the plastic bracket or grommet moving against the steel frame it fits into, not the spring itself. How can I safely unhook the spring to further diagnose this?
