i love looking at all the old appliances, they were so creative years ago. wall mounted refrigerators??!! i don't collect as many do here, but i enjoy looking. this post is to ask the collective advice of the members for a working dw for my remodel. a guy that works on appliances and has a web site told me, after i described what i want out of a dw (durable, won't quit after 10 years, water usage not a big deal, did i say durable and reliable) , that i should get an old KA from before their merger in the mid 80's. i've read a lot here which seems to concur, but can someone give me the model numbers to work back from? 20 series and back??22? also, are there other brands held in as high regard as KA? also, i have read some members posts indicating they have "modern" models--do many agree tha there are decent models out there? btw, the guy who told me this stuff who also repairs has a web site called appliance samurai on which he says all modern dw's suck, and he has confirmed to me privately. the site is funny and well done if you're interested. thanks guys

I have a "pimped" KD12 in my Kitchen, but the capacity is small, since I have 3 dishwashers in the Kitchen capacity is not an issue for me.

I believe the KD-18 is the first with a spray arm in the upper rack. Not sure when the original KA series was changed.
