I used to think that the term Frigidaire 1-18 was pronounced "one eighteen" instead of "one to eighteen"!

I really was curious, too - but was afraid to ask.

I call our 'mulit-matic' a tragimatic.

When I am happy, I call the real Frigidaires 'thumpers'.

And I try not to call rollermatics at all, they might hear me and come...

(Before we get into the drama, ladies, remember me - the guy who was responsible for 75+ rollermatics-student dorms-fixing?)

If it was an 1-18 from GM, I call it 'one eighteen'. If it is that useless junk from White, well, we don't even speak the name.

I thunk one to eighteen. One pound, to eighteen. I always used to call 'em "up and downs" for the agitator action. Or "S" line, for the first one's were model S...

FWIW....

The dash between the 1 and the 18 makes it "one to eighteen".

Having said that, I (and others I know who are into washers) call it a "one eighteen".

Ain't language swell? It's never completely tidy, is it?

I watched the videos for years that FRIGIDAIRE provided to show all current models and their features as well as differences model to model and the numbers 1-18 stould for 1 piece to 18 pounds not 1 to 18 pounds.and it is 1-18 not 1 to 18.
