I am in need of a timer for a Maytag WU901 dishwasher. The part number is 901283. This part is no longer available through the appliance dealers. The Whirlpool Corp. no longer makes it or stocks it. I bought this dishwasher new in 1982 and want to keep it running. The part has to be out there !
Any help is appreciated.

Great Dishwasher! I believe that model was TOL (top of the Line) back in 82. I did some searching and came up empty handed as well. Shoot Dave Harnish an email at drs@sosbbs.com. He recently bought a couple of trailer loads of older Maytag parts. Good Luck!!

Try Midwest Timer Service as well. They cleared out a lot of their old-stock but told me that if I sent them my timer, they would rebuild it.

Also, try Larry at Modern Parts House in Parma, OH. (216) 661-6966

After the washer runs a full cycle and stops it will not restart when depressing the heavy wash button ( or any other button)unless the timer is manually advanced just a shade with a screw driver. It stops at approxmately 8:45 and needs to be advanced to 9. If this makes any sence.

I did try www.appliancepartsworldwide.com... earlier this week. When the part number came up on the website I was happy. I called them to confirm and was told they do not have it and cannot get it.

Well I checked every where, there isn't a new timer to be had.
Thanks to GANSKY2 I will have my old timer rebuilt at Midwest Timer Service for about 1/2 the cost of a new one.
Talking to them on the phone they seemed very much professional.
Cheers
Curt

I sent the timer to Midwest Timer Service. They just contacted me and indicated that they are unable to rebuild the 901283 timer, and will be sending it back to me. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am at another dead end, HELP !

Did the Midwest timer tell you what the problem was? Contacts, timer motor, or escapement (or something else)?

No, a lady from Midwest Timer Service gave me a call to tell me that her line manager indicated to her that they didn't want to work on it. And asked me if I wanted her to dispose of it. I requested her to please send it back to me. Thast was yesterday. I suspect I'll get it back Monday.
