Just picked this up, appears to work fine except a clogged drain hose. Spins like crazy. This is the first piston I've found that is not a 1-18. Think its a 65. Unfortunately, it isn't pink, just an effect.

Yeah, a '65. Those were very popular workhorses in the deep south, back in the day. At one time I had four of them.

Matt, that is my dream machine! This is exactly what I grew up with except ours was avacado green. I sent you an email about it.

You guys have no idea how badly I have been wanting one of these, nothing else makes the same movements and sounds, which is of the greatest importance ;)

Very cool washer Matt. Hopefully you'll keep it around long enough to enjoy the greatness of solid tub washing.

Congrats!

Ben

Thanks, it's cool to finally get one of these, even if it is a Rollermatic. A solid tub. Wow.

The 1965 "Jet Action" solid tub washers had many models to choose. If I remember correctly,I believe they had at least 12 different ones beginning with the basic"Super" and going to the "High Fashion" Custom Imperial that came with a built in cabinet.I also believe that the beginner Rapidry models were the "Gold Crown" which was a derivative of the Imperial and/or the Custom Deluxe but included not only the Rapidry 1000 spin but also had the infinate water level selector, fabric softener attachment and window lid.The dryers were not as well constructed as the washers and this issue continued on through to the Flowing Heat 1-18's.Congrats!

Sada did indeed have a 1965 Custom Imperial washer and a Kenmore combo (71-72) for a dryer. I have seasons 1&2 on DVD - Terry and I spent some time drooling over the kitchen and laundry rooms after I first got it.

I had a 68 rollermatic - my first solid tub Frigidaire, 710 spin like this one. They are fun - and they are like a GE running in the house, anywhere in the house you may be - you know there's a GE (or in this case a Deep-Action agitator) running somewhere close by.

Question, swestoyz has a '65 listed in his collection that has a WCI mod #, mine is WCDA-65. I've heard some negative comments about WCI's, are the WC's rollermatics, is that what some don't like? Again, my experience is limited to 1-18's. Tx matt

WCI stands for Washer Custom Imperial, WCD would be Washer Custom Deluxe - all GM Frigidaires, just the model designations are different. White Consolidated Industries (WCI) didn't come along until '79-80.

I think the negative comments you have heard regarding WCI refers to "White Consolidated Industries" that took over Frigidaire from GM back at the end of 1979.

WCI when used as a model number stood for Washer Custom Imperial. Of course there are some here that don't like rollermatics either (shame on them!) but I think you have found a great machine.

I too grew up with this exact model except that the machine was in coppertone, just like the one SaltySam has. The sound of this machines timer going through it's cycle and it's long overflow rinse was imprinted in my memory at a young age and has stayed with me to this day.

The spin on this machine is impressive too for not being a RapidryŽ model. Enjoy your find.

Patrick

I didn't mean to echo Greg's response. This is what happens when you take over 20 minutes to type a message due to work interruptions!

that was my overselling model when I was doing restore and sell, must have had 15-20 go through my shop back in the early 80's.

I can tell that was a grandma machine, you still have all the paint on the lettering on the cap!

Their only weakness was the 2 spin bearings, if they failed the motor as direct drive burnt out real fast in spin up.
Keep those bearings fresh and she'll run forever.

Love the sound of those in Rinse!

I'll take a Rollermatic over a new Cabrio any day. That is, IF I were lucky enough to find one. Good work, Matt. Keep it shiny!
