Nother phone call from my the old site this afternoon................Hoover A3308 Computer Control............so off i dashed and there it was not bad condition.......pity it wasnt the black version A3286 (i think) as i have a 3308 already, but never say no to another one of these excellent machines

Strange because this week i have gotten two machines at opposite ends of the then technology spectrum, both operate on the "logic" principal one mechanical and one electronic

As well another item will have to go

Gary

Is Cornwall a haven of TOTL Hoover?

My god Gary.

They are coming out of the woodwork thick and fast at the moment.
We really need a restful week this week.

You think it will clean up OK?
At the very least, if there are major problems with it, it will be useful for your other A3308.

I dont relish your disposal decision.

Paul

Lol....You beat me to it Gary...LOl, just when you think no bus is coming along come two!!!

I have been going to a local repair shop for years, spares n stuff, the odd machine shows up....he has a shop full of old machines mainly WM`s & Hoover/Candy, these are stacked three high, washer/dryer/dryer and three deep, he had a clear out couple of weeks ago and I was able to see the back of the first two rows..well out pops the Hotpoint 1842 washer, Currys exclusive!!!, John from Brum found me a matching near dryer, this is the one that Rob & Paul helped nurture back to life!!!so here we have pair number 1....

Light Grey Fascia...& Plinth..

chestermikeuk's profile picture
At first I thought the solid plinth had come off leaving the glue....but it was a tinted grey fascia but faded & chipped...this one is in a worse state having had water dripped on it....but hey a few tools later and a vist from alpha dave confirmed it needs a new microswitch and motor brushes.....has its original drum....so will spray paint the plinth to match the subtle grey colour!!!!

And to think these had been in the shop for the last 4 yrs every time I visited....AND we still havnt got to the back, thats tomorrows job....

Under the hood we have....

How do Mike.

The 17/18 look fantastic. The dryer looks mint - cant wait to see them both.

Now to the machine that I have not seen before... the A3418.

Looks wonderful!

So glad that one of this rare breed of Computer Control is in safe hands. Thing is where the hell are the bloody black ones - theres got to be an A3268 somewhere.

What a great piccy a line of the the three versions would look - A3268/A3308 and A3418.

Congratulations - wonder what will come out of the woodwork tomorrow.

Fingers crossed!

Paul

What a mad time us in the domsetic appliance preservation community are having at the moment!

A matchbox, a liberator (Zanpoint / Hotussi), a Bendix Compact and now Computer Controls!

All good for UK appliance history.

Paul
p.s below is the missing link. wonder when one will surface.

they might have

taken the previous photos of the hoovermatic in full swing, those creases don't look authentic to those produce by a 50s,60s, spin dryer lol, love the 1224, copeing easily with all those leaves, do you think that the fan would have an efficient shredding action for greater bag capacity, sorry wandering off into garden appliance teratory. Mathew

I Beleive It!

electron1100's profile picture
Oh yes Mike as things are going I definatley would Beleive It and what a lovley lovely looking machine, i take it you mean aluminium panel with mauve knobs etc :-)......forgive my lack of knowledge on Hotpoints...but to me that series of machines like Pauls liberator are the best looking of all modern Hotpoints

Aye when i think of the care I took of that bag lovingly hand washed in pure soap powder carefully laid out to dry .......ah well he has the right idea though as regards the retro shots.

Mike I have posted pictures of the top of my 3243H on the other link for you to compare with yours

Mathew as long as the leaves are dry worth a try, you could try sharpening the edges of the blades and turn it into a KILLER!..........Work, well i have managed a few listings on ebay whihc is a start.......like you i have several projects on the go and they all take time.........

Anyway have a good day/week everyone
Gary
