All photo shots taken prior to a good scrubbin.

I'm toying with the idea of performing a full restore on this beauty and taping the entire process for others here to learn. Everything from a belt change, to a full tear down, to a transmission rebuild and beyond. Youtube would probably be the format I'd use. If there's enough response from others here, I'll get the camera ready and put it to work.

That would be awfully generous of you to Record a Restoration Video. I, for one would really enjoy that. Thank-you, Eddie

Good luck with your 806

You were lucky that the lens cover was still there. Mine had fallen between the inner and outer tub. Had to pull off the tub cover, tip the machine over and remove it.
Picture is a comparison of the old lens and a brand new one.

Tomorrow, will tackle putting on the new rubber seal and the expansion ring and hope for no leaks.
The harvest gold color is actually growing on me.

Nice find, Dan. Better yet, no timed bleach injection... LOL! This one will be fun for you. I'm glad that base will work for you. It was fun watching you cram it in your little sedan. Enjoy! I'm working on adopting a set myself. Will post later if I'm successful. They might be related to yours.

A detailed video of the transmission rebuild will be very helpful. I need to do a transmission oil change on an A206 and I have never done one before so I will gladly learn from your filming.

Thank you very much!

"Artistry in agitation"

Couldn't agree with you more! There is something absolutely beautiful about the agitation of a maytag!

Would love to have a video as I will eventually get my grandmothers 606 (When there is room) and will likely need to do the whole re-do on it. That is a very generous offer!

"The harvest gold color is actually growing on me."

Yeah me too. I was thinking this morning, "Wow, that color is not as nearly as bad as I once thought" LOL!

"Does the tub light work?"

Nope. The bulb filament is broken so hopefully a new bulb will fix that problem. The lid switch still works fine so that's probably not it. Finding those bulbs are now becoming quite the task.

"Better yet, no timed bleach injection... LOL!"

Thank God! I have feeling my older 806 is going to be sitting idly apart for a while :(

"It was fun watching you cram it in your little sedan."

Little sedan? A 4 door Honda Accord is a full size sedan these days ;)

Nice find there Dan! I've done a bit of research on the Series 01 machines over the last month that explain the changes, etc. between these and the previous 66-74 machines. I'll poste more when I get home tonite.

Nice machine!

I saw one of the older 806's in Harvest this past weekend. Looked OK, but the seller wanted $100.00 for it. A little less money, and I would have snatched it.

Dan, talk about chance! I found this set today. It's a match for yours but it's not quite what I'M looking for. SO... You can have the matching dryer to your washer, if you want. I'll even throw in the washer as a working parts kit if you wish! Let me know! Here's a pic of the set I found today...

Where are you guys finding all of these A806's at?? I want one!!! lol. A set in Harvest Gold OR Coppertone would suffice lol. I need to get into a damn house so I can get me a set.

I think RCD enjoys making me squirm waaaaaaay too much, LOL!!

UUHHHGG!!

I'm running out.....wait....I'm pretty much OUT of room but I just can't bear to see these crushed. If someone wants the dryer, the washer, or preferably, the entire set, they're yours. However, I'm assuming RCD has VERY limited time and space to keep these beauty's hidden from the almighty crusher, so if you're interested in picking them up, make it snappy! Otherwise, I'm gonna to begin throwing my furniture out and guest are going to have to "Pull up a Maytag" to rest their keesters.

Harvest Gold

A goldy restoration video would be AWESOME!!!.

I live in New York. Where are you guys finding these beautiful machines??? I'm going to start a Maytag Dependable/Dependable Care redesign washer project and I need some older Maytag's.

Can't wait for you to start the videos.

Appliances... The universal language of satisfaction and frustration! Just think about how lonely your harvest gold 806 is. How could you NOT make it happy by getting it's mate. LOL! That's ok. I will hide them for you for a little while!
