Knew thingw would get hot the last few minutes of the auction, but never imagined that hot! Congrats to the lucky winner! Still, wonder why it seems dryers are the red headed step children at these auctions. One would think someone would want a matched set. Even when the dryers pop up by themselves (which seems often), many do not even get a bid and are left to languish. Launderess | ||

I don't know who the winner of the dryer was, but I hope he lives close to its location. Can you imagine the shipping charge on the dryer and not winning the washer? That's what's bad about the dryer being in the first auction and not sniping the washer. By continually bidding, the other bidders know your intentions and can snipe it from you.

You gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em
Many sellers are starting do to their homework on vintage items,especially washers/dryers and listing sets as separate units. While this is great for those that only want one or the other, it does force some fancy footwork in bidding. If one accepts the view to bid one's highest at the first and be damned, there is always the risk some "shiller" will come along and bid things up. You may get the item, but you may end up paying more than necessary. The three highest bidders are names I know as members/have seen bidding on other vintage washers/dryers. Was amazed how bidding jumped from the 400's to 700's right to the thousands. This certianly was an auction for the "big boys" Hate to see members bidding against each other though, but guess things just happen that way. Launderess | ||

Seems kind of high.... Is there something really special about this model? Is it a first? Wondering why this particular one went for so much. | ||

Kevin, this is teh first WO-65 model Frigidaire. This model year (1950) was the first Frigidaire washer to have an actual rear control panel. Previously, timer and water temp switch were on the front of the machine. The WO-65 series was produced for 4 years, the longest run of any Frigidaire exterior design except for the 1/18s. And, it "appears" to be in relatively good working order. | ||
