Hope the link worked below. Just spoke to the seller and plan to buy/pick up this Saturday (can't get there any sooner!). I've never owned one of these before, he says it doesn't drain the water anymore, but works fine otherwise. Might just be a solenoid? Anyway, am hoping no one gets this one before I do!

Those aren't common at all. Just remember to secure the suspension before it is moved OR ELSE!!!! I don't know how to secure it, or even what the procedure is, but if you don't secure it, it WILL break.

Others can elaborate.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
Dave

That's indeed a very rare machine. Hopefully some knowledgeable members will chime in and guide you to the proper loading/unloading procedures.

From the model number it looks like a 1965!

WOW! Go for it Todd, GO FOR IT!!! If I were closer I would GRAB IT!!!

As for the suspension, try taking a few short (12 to 16 inches in length) 2X4 or 4X4 blocks, remove the back panel and wedge/stack them in under and around the outer drum to restrict it's movement.

Gas or electric????

We had the same model growing up. It is not from the 50's it is a 1963 model that came in white, coppertone, canary yellow or turquoise.Ours was installed the day before John F.Kennedy was asassinated. My Dad took us out to learn how to rollerscate at the rink so that I would not be there at home to "pester the installer."However, by the time we got home, all the wash was already done so,I went out in the rain and got real muddy so I would still be able to see our new gem do its thing. My grandmother laughed but my Dad was not amused. I found out decades later that, had Dad been me,he would have done the same thing!! LOL

There is no suspension in a Kenmore combo

Todd,All you have to do to move it is open up the service door and in the upper right hand corner there is a thumb screw.Just unscrew that when the machine is moved and when you place it its permanent spot in your laundry room tighten it again. This controls the balance mech. The machine balances itself by filling baffels with water opposite the load. This machine will never walk no matter how unbalanced.Great Machine! I use mine weekley

Do not remove the back and try to block the tub this is not how these are moved.Open the lower front panel and loosten the balance thumb screw several turns and keep the machine up right when moving. Its very heavy aprox 350 pounds.Get help.

What Year?

The first two numbers after the 110 should be the year, the metal tag with the model number on it,Bobby

I do believe

that this is an electric one. At least, that's what I think the data plate says. That and the great big "UL" insignia.

Mid 1960's Lady Kenmore Washer/Dryer Combo....

I guess the person who listed this Lady Kenmore Washer/Dryer Combo was off a little as far as time is concerned. To me, that looks like a 1965-69 Model.

Maybe RevvinKevin or KenmoreGuy64 can enlighten me and confirm this.

Also, I wonder did the previous owner had this machine painted or was it his camera. It looks like this machine is Almond or Platinum. Almond or Platinum colors were not available on appliances back in the mid 1960's.

Combo color

combo52's profile picture
I think the the color is called doskin whirlpool used it on many appliances in 1965-1967 period builders used it a lot in new homes. Sears also used it here and there many sears portable washers and dryers came in this color. It was an early alomd sort of color

That is the first time I've ever seen the color Doeskin. It is listed as an option on my 1965 Lady K parts lists, but not on my 63 Lady K's. Must have debuted sometime in between late '63 and '65. Neat color, and NEAT machine!

Thank you all for your support, so far, so good, it looks like it's mine. As far as moving, the service door is the thing on the top? I've never owned a front loader so am unfamiliar with what's what. And it seems from all of your posts that I MUST keep it upright and not lay it on its side? Too bad I don't have a forklift!

Rent

an appliance dolly, cut a 1/2" sheet of 4' by 8' plywood in
half length wise; use the cut pw as a ramp into your pickup,
support the center of the plywood with a turned up side down
recycling bin, or milk crate; easy peasy!!!

Todd

If your pick up tail gate can be released from the cables/arms
that supports it in the open position, removing said connections will make the gate a ramp at about a 45 degree
angle to the bed, giving more support to the upper end of
your plywood ramp (you need only use one of the halves for
your ramp). If your truck is newer use a padding of some sort
between the tail gate and the bumper to prevent marring the outside of the tailgate; (be sure to wear white gloves, a white lab coat, and paper hazmat booties too. ;> . !!!!)

you'll love it JohnF forced one on me years ago. Wonderful machine. The service door is the lower kick plate panel, drop it down , on the right turn the thumb screw back like John says and you should be fine, if you are a Speeder then be sure to tape the dispenser door shut before you fly off down the road!

Washerlover. i', jealous. these are beautiful units. Yake care of them or i will track you down and confiscate them from you. My siggestionm in the moving of them would be a combonation of what all the other posters have said. Use straps. bailing wire underneath to secure the trannie, and lots of old blankets to protect the fine paint on it. nothing worde than getting home with such a fine set only to see gashes in it. Once again, you go boy. and if you use bailing/mechanics wire, double otr even triple it by puting equal lenhgnths of wire in a drill and twisting them tighytly together for a better stronger peice of wire. good luck. keep us all posted on your sure seccess.

Well, we had a successful trip to pick up the new addition to my family. It is in pristine condition, and indeed a 1965 model. It is a beautiful machine, no problems moving it and thank you all for your advice about the thumb screw! No time to play with it now as we are in the process of buying another house, but will post pics as soon as I get her situated in her new home!

And you won't have to worry about washing your clothing in a pint of water or so, this machine will use a nice amount of water to really clean your clothes!

It's just stunning! I look forward to a more detailed condition report and photos!
