There are several ways to do this: 1) You can gently heat up the sleeve bearing with a torch to loosen it up. 2) Another way is to gently take a chisel and hammer and split the edge of the sleeve. On alot of Maytag transmissions, there are 'notches' in the transmission right under that sleeve so you can work the chisel down that with out damage. 3) use some penetrating lubricant like WD40 and try to lube the sleeve and then grab on with a pair of channel locks and twist back and forth as you pull it up and off. I've had to chisel more than a few off due to moisture corrosion in between the sleeve and upper transmission housing. Usually on the LAT's more than anyone else... It's doable. Good luck! RCD |
