I would disagree...there was a line of WCI dishwashers from about 1988 to about 1995 which had a porcelain tub and plastic door which were actually quite good dishwashers and had a very intelligent racking (for my use) which I'd seen...they had two rows of a low loop (1 inch or so) along the length of the dw which allowed cookie sheets to stand upright, but didn't preclude putting something wider there too (say, a 9X13 pan or a casserole)...those just sat on the loops rather than being held upright by them. I've never had a machine handle things like cookie sheets and broiler pans better. As I recall Consumer Reports liked them (which they had never done with the older ones)...they had a grille in the sump area of the machine which snapped out. They had a cheap version and a soil-separator version...I liked using it a lot (had a White-Westinghouse in a apartment in about 1995) |

If it's not a GM Frigidaire it's likely a pass. WCI Dishwashers weren't known for their greatness. That's okay, neither were the GM Frigidaires ;-) Some of the Westinghouse-designed WCI machines were fun. Some of the early-eighties transitional models still had the GM styling on decidedly non-GM mechanicals, and those were cool, too. Hey, you know, if you like it, grab it! :-) Many of the latter-day GM Frigidaires rusted to a heap beneath their Plastisol-coated interiors, unlike the seemingly bulletproof porcelainoramic ones of the fifties and early-to-mid sixties. But yes, if you see the GM insignia on there, it's fun for novelty's sake, for certain! :-) |
