The PowerClean module is rather simple. As the water falls from the dishes with soil it will travel thru the course grate to keep out unwanted items like broken glass and large pieces of food. Then the water heads down under the module to the macerator where the it will pulverize the food particles and then the water is pulled thru a sizing plate into the impeller and thrown out horizontally to a wall circling the impeller. The idea is separate the food particles from the water. The particles go over the wall and the "cleaned water" returns to the wash system. On the top of the module there are vanes in the extraction area that channel the water to the center and out the outlet to the lower arm and thru the JetStream column and into the upper arm and then thru the upper rack tower into the deflector in the top on the tank. The newer machines with a filter just lets the water and food particles move thru and catches the food on the screen. The wash arm has 2 holes under it to keep the screen clean. Also instead of using a JetStream column they are using a pipe in the back to connect the middle arm and top shower. The PowerClean Original didnt have a filter on top. They used whats called a "dead Zone" to collect the food. PowerClean 2 used the filter. Both designs do a great job washing and move alot of water thru the arms. After the recirculation period was done the motor stops and reverses to pump the water out. The drain pump pulls on a plunger to open the dead zone to remove the food and flush it down the drain. Some newer ones have a check ball instead of the plunger. It sounds complicated but its not. |

thank's appnut, this machine I got when sears had a guarantee if I could put a cake inside and not have the machine get rid of it completely, the machine was free! do you know how many cakes I baked and frosted and stuck inside there?.........they all disappeared...dammit!!! but a great machine otherwise...this machine cleans everything the first time! but you already knew that... wonder why manufacturers don't give that kind of guarantee anymore?....even my calypso set came with a one year trial...if I didn't like it, full refund...but I did keep them, made sure they were KQ2's..no glitches... |

I hope that you can get the price down as it seems kinda of high.If they are like the Kenmores they are the best I have had 2 of them one I thought that it was too old so I replaced it with a Kenmore tall tub and they are both the bomb they wash great and I do not wash may dishes before I wash the dishes and everything is spotless.
