This ad is in a magazine I bought at a thrift store, the other day. I thought some of you might enjoy it.......

when did whirlpool start to put the swirl above their name, and when did the RCA emblem disappear, and now they have a encircling beam of light, I guess replacing the swirling whirlpool...

and it seems they have a new "saying" for all their appliances...last one I remember is ...."just imagine!"

there were days when they had one for every appliance, can't recall all of them, just the washer/dryer one....loved the commercials...
"WHIRLPOOL MAKES A WASHER AND DRYER, WON'T MAKE A MESS ON YOUR PERMANENT PRESS!"

from 1956 TO 1967. they started using the stylized whirlpool embelm above there name circa 1963. In circa 1983 is when the added the saturn ring around the name.

My Mom would have said here,

Still brings back such fond memories for me. My Mom had a Whirlpool washer from the time I can remember, when it started leaking (I was 8 and my next to oldest brother just go married) she gave it to him and he fixed it. She bought another whirlpool. I asked her after her she got the second whirlpool,"why do you always buy whirlpool, why not GE, Frigidare or Maytay?" to which she replied, "I can't efford a Maytag right now, which is what I really want, but Whirlpool is a good solid product. Buy what works and last without giving you problems".

reply to Appliguy.

Thanks for the info on the Whirlpool logo's. I was wondering when they designed the saturn ring, because a friend of my mom used to have a BD Whirlpool that had no saturn ring around it just the emblem so that means her washer was obviously older then 1983.

I must say I like the looks of that Whirlpool. The consoles are so cool.

Have a good one,
James

RCA Whirlpool

So correct me if I'm wrong on this: did RCA ever own Whirlpool? I used to think that they did for a while, but recently I read somewhere that they did not, and that the "RCA Whirlpool" designation was just a joint marketing agreement between the two companies. That would make sense, given that RCA used to have its own chain of retail stores. But it seems atypical for RCA at the time, since they generally built everything themselves.

More fun slogans...

"CHEER...the detergent with the "Blue Magic Whitener." Gets your wash so white, you can SEE the difference!"

"COMET...bleaches out stains...wipes out germs...BETTER than than any other leading cleanser!"

"No time to brush your teeth, let alone sit down to a nourishing breakfast? Try 'VitaMints'...the powerful, yet pleasant-tasting mint with not only TWICE the Chlrophyl and Retsyn of the leading candy breath mint, but also over 100% of the vitamins, minerals AND iron recommeded daily by the U.S. Government!
...Try VitaMints, TODAY!"

...just wanted to see who's paying attention to the last one!!!
