I found me a Kitchenaid dishwasher but was wondering what year and model this is..Its really close and is a great price and they told me it works great.I have never had one like this but I have heard good things.Anybody have one like this is there anything I should look for when I go look at it today like trouble spots.I have had two Kitcheanaids but they were the 1985 models.Does this one wash as good as the other's.?

Looks like a KDS-17 and they are great machines. It is from the early 70's!

what a beauty!

my all time favorite kitchenaid! a kds-17a!

hang on to it please! it is dishwasher royalty! the best kitchenaid ever made in my humble opinion! has that sani rinse, that soak cycle, and those great "party" cycles!

i have 4 of these models myself, can't get enough! parts for the pump and motor are still being made at hobart as they used the same pumps as their commercial machines! i can help you with any parts you may need! i would change the seal eventually to insure you get another 40 years out of it! there are several guys here including myself who can walk you thru any repair job in the future!

it was made from july 74 thru august 76 as shown on this production list!

if you ever decide to sell it let me know! tenn. is not that far from ohio and i would buy it if no one else wanted it. but i'm sure someone would, they are a very classic dishwasher, the last model using the single hydrosweep wash system! and if you load it properly that single hydrosweep will outclean anything else i have ever seen!

congrats on this wonderful peice of dishwasher history!

oh yea,

any problem areas could be dealt with. i would take it regardless but you could inspect bottom of inside tub for large rust areas in sump, especially around calrod heater. you must remove hydrosweep and stainless steel screen to get a good view.

maybe flip it over and look at motor for obvious water leakage but even that could be fixed eaily! out of my 4 kds-17a's i have bought i have had NONE with a bad seal or leak around the pump area! the only 2 kitchenaids i have bought that leaked were both 19 models! and i have 18 kitchenaids at the moment.

if the price is great i would grab it even if it does have a few problem areas. it can be a fun tune up project anyway! if you decide not to take it please let me know, i probably would! hope you take it though. good luck with it!
