The prize list of washers includes one called Barton. I have never heard of that one. Any info?

I would choose the Kelvinator :-).

I don't know about a Barton, but I think that I could pack more than $10,000 of $10 bills in one washer. They say "a washer full" of $10 bills, and that's only 1,000 bills. That's a two-hander for sure, but easy enough to carry.

Yeah, but a 1955-vintage machine would probably only hold an 8 pound load...
I think I would take the Easy set, just to be different!!

Firestone made washing machines????

I knew they made televisions at one time, but this was a surprise! I wonder about the "One Minute" machine myself. The entry says it's for ironers also, so that sounds like an appropos name for one.

I'd pick the Easy, too. Just for fun.

Does anyone have an idea of what year this contest was done? That would further help me decide between the Kenmore, Maytag or GE.

The box says that the contest ends July 30, 1955.

I missed the picture of the day, but I doubt that it was referring to a Barton dryer. We sold Barton dryers in the 1970s for a while. They featured a large, stainless drum.

i like when we have these conversations, in the "farm photo's" there is a shot of Robert pointing out a early "beam" machine. I think we refer to the last of the Frigidaires T/L as the last of the Franklin Machines. we used to have a chart or something that showed who made what, and who stuck their "brand label" on it. "Pay no attention, to the man behind the curtain", the retailers "rebadged" everthing. Really it was clever marketing that steered $$$ into "in house" credit accounts.
