I'm replumbing my laundry room, going from 4 washer hook-ups to 11, the max number of washers that will fit in the room. Here's the west side.

Thermostatic water tempering valve will keep the cold water at 70F. summer and winter. Now the fun job, moving all the washers back in and hooking them up. More pics to come soon.

Jeff, isn't there some way to have the hot water in a recirculating system loop? It looks that hot water will never get to the machine at the end of the line.

Nice TOL Whirlpool you've got there, and with a window door. I have not seen many, or perhaps any of those.

Have a good one,
James

The thermostatic valve came from a darkroom supply company, used for film processing. See link below. It's a bit pricey, I found some cheaper ones, but they had a low limit around 95F, that was a bit too high.

Yes the drain line has a proper trap at the end of the line, it got cut off in the photo.

I thought about a recirculating pump for the hot water line, but the sink is near the end of the line, so I can just run the water untill it's hot before starting a washer.

Photos of the washers will come soon!!

That is a very nice basement and the plumbing is very nice indeed. I'm a big fan of nicely done copper line. I wish I had that kind of space under the house. I have been adding plumbing in the kitchen with CPVC which has worked out well for over a month now. Nice work.

Flood prevention

What do you guys who have multiple machines do for flood prevention? Do you have a set of master valves to shut off all the water?

David

I don't know about the other guys but in my case (considering the slow pumps used in brazilian washers) i just have the water from the drain pipes plus the Affinity washer going straight in the sink and then it goes away by the sink's drain.

It's very difficult to have all of them draining exactly at the same time but even if it happens (considering maximum water level for all the machines) the sink will be only 3/4 full.
I also have three floor drains, one automatic machine (and two semi-automatic that drains by gravity) drain directly in the floor drain.

The main pipe is protected by a master valve and I have no independent cold water to each machine. I use T connectors on the solenoids so the machines are interconnected.
My building is 21 floors high and I live on the 6th floor so the pressure is very high. I just notice a pressure reduction when i fill all of the machines at the same time, but nothing so relevant.

Electrically, I have independent wires por each one of the machines (except the two semi automatics that are connected together), independent DR circuit breakers plus an emergency switch (a fire alarm pull station) to shut off everything instantly if necessary.

Probably I'm the only guy in Brazil that use the ground wire. Even being mandatory, everybody ignore this important safety. most people don't even change the outlet, they just break the ground prong on the plugs.
