Does anyone know how to deactivate the lid switch on a new Kenmore 500 Series top-load washer? It was purchased in March of this year and has all the new Department of Energy requirements incorporated into it. It works well and I'm satisfied with it, but I don't like the fact that the machine won't run with the lid open. Whirlpool now puts lid switch down underneath the left-hand side of the console instead of along the right-hand side of the lid opening. Thanks for any feedback.

See the three photos at the bottom of this page. You should be able to tape or tie down the activator inside its bracket:

Sorry that should be actuator, not activator.

Remove the 2 Philips screws and lift up the face plate. You will see the lid switch wires on the left. Leave the green wire alone and clip the other 2. Then nut wire them together. presto! matt
