So I got a call from Ben this afternoon, turns out his gf spotted an old Maytag dryer by the curb..a DE105! So we rounded up the Bravada and went to check it out. While we were admiring it someone came out of the nearby house and I asked if they were getting rid of it- Turns out it came with the house and these folks had been using it up until this week when something 'caused it not to work'. So we loaded it up and drug it home. The top could stand a repaint but otherwise it's in really beautiful shape. Anyone care to guess a year? |

That's just it, this style was made between 1958 and 1964'ish. The tought part of it is the model number, DE105. Most all the Highlanders from the late 50's and very early 60's had model numbers like 66C, 77C, etc. and then from that point they went to a DE 102,103, etc. which makes me think it's a little later. By 65, the small panel Highlander was just about gone and the Super Highlander with the taller panel and diamond "on" light above the dial replaced it until the complete styling change in 1966. The Highlanders like this always had a pull-open door which is a single piece of sheet metal with a simple rubber seal around the inside of the door.
