This could be a little far fetched, but Maytag started using a cheap motor pulley that was two piece affair which was crimped together. The crimp would go bad and one of the 2 pulleys would start to spin/slip within the crimp, making a racket, not to mention poor washing/spinning performance. Easiest method to check would be to remove both belts and see if you and spin both pulleys in opposite directions at the same time.......if that makes any sense. I have both a good and crappy designed motor pulley that I should dig out and take a pic of to show the differences. I'll see if I can do that. |

I found that it's air trapped somewhere between the inner and outer tub. That's what I meant by adjusting the water level after the tub has been "burped." Next time the washer has filled about half way on the rinse cycle, shift the tub all the way to the right or left. You'll hear and sometimes see the trapped air gurgle to the surface. You'll also notice the water level drop and the washer will fill to the same height as the first fill. |
