Hello to everyone,
I have just discovered this forum and am really happy to find it.
I thought I was alone in having a bit of an interest in these things but it appears now I am not.
Sudsy,
In relation to your question on Bosch Maxx range I have owned a
Bosch Maxx 1000, for just under 2 years now and it worked quite
well until a few months ago when it broke down entirely and I have to say Bosch have the worst after sales service I have ever encountered.
I sent their office in Melbourne numerous e-mails about this machine and none of them were ever answered, several phone calls later and after a week a serviceman finally come to the house, checked it over and advised that the motor and heating element had both totally burnt out and he would have to contact Bosch to order replacement parts.
After several more days of phone calls I was finally told that Bosch did not have the parts here in Australia, and they would have to send to Germany for them/
The entire process took about 5 weeks from reporting the breakdown to final repair.
In the meantime I felt bad about imposing on our neighbours, so
in frustration I went out to the local electrical store next to where I work and bought a little N.E.C. Twin-Tub Washer, and
to tell you the truth I now find I prefer to use the T.T.in preference to the front loader as I find I can do 2 days worth of laundry in just over an hour in it.
The only problem wioth the T.T., is that it only holds 4kg load
I am not sure if you can get a large Twin-Tub in Australia anymore.
I was terribly annoyed with the Bosch as we only wash every 2nd day, and it is not as if was being ground into the dirt with overuse.
In finishing I would not give Bosch one red cent of my money ever again.
I live in Sydney Australia so hello to everyone.

Weird... never heard a complaint before about Bosch, they're one of the best selling ranges of washers we sell at the shop I work in. My Bosch Exxcel 1400 downstairs has lasted 2.5 years so far no problems, and it is used at least 10 times a week, sometimes more. Not as good as my AEG or Miele, but I've found it to be a sturdy, reliable machine.

Was your Bosch made in Germany? Some of the cheaper models are now made in Spain, and they aren't as high quality as the German ones (mine is a German made Bosch). However, the reliability should be about the same...

Interesting though to hear your story. Probably the proximity to Germany, but Bosch have good after-sales here, that was one of the main reasons why we got the Bosch downstairs in the first place.

Take care,

Jon

Bosch Maxx Part 2

Hello Jon,
Thanks for your reply to my story, and yes my Bosch does come from Germany which is why I guess it took so long to get fixed.
I find it hard to believe though, that Bosch don't keep spare parts readily here in Australia and they have to send to Germany for them.
If I had known that when I bought it I might have gone for an L.G. or something else, although the salesman did advise that the european brands were better quality than the asian brands.
The thing which annoyed me most of all though, was Bosch's office here in Oz just was not at all helpful which I don;t think is very good when you consider the thing cost me close to $1000.00 Aus. Cheers.

I was wondering when the first Thai made Bosch came undone. The quality of those machines is not the same as the German built ones. I have sold Bosch washers in the past when they came out of Germany, when they changed to the Thai ones I had my reservations. Its unfortunate that your machine had 2 major problems with average use and that they didn't give you good service. I know these machines are pitched at a certain price point, but unfortunately I believe somethings gonna give. I have a Miele like most of my family and wouldn't swap it for anything else
