I am in possession of a friends Skinny Mini (Golittlesport's), the real one with the "Agi-Tub". The last time I used it I noticed the spin speed with a load of cloths in it is NOT the same as when empty, it's noticeably slower.

I assume it's just a friction thing of one roller against another which makes it spin, is that correct?

It was suggested that I try cleaning those "rollers" underneath. What should I clean them with? Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you much in advance!
Kevin

They also use a double belt, make sure they are both in place and in reasonably good condition.

Clean the roller with lighter fluid. The belts are not used for spinning, altho' the mechanism will still look like it is agitating.

Lighter fluid? Why lighter fluid? Is there anything else I can use that is... oh... I don't know... less flammable?

Lighter fluid is about the best thing - but any fast-drying solvent would probably work. You don't want to use anything that might dissolve or harm the neoprene on the roller but still remove the grime. Make sure to clean the spin-wheel-clutch as well.

Kevin, I've always heard and read lighter fluid when it comes to roller on rollermatic and 1/18s.

So, OK then... lighter fluid it is.... but....

Are we talking about lighter fluid for lighting a BBQ or lighter fluid for refilling cigarette lighters?
(or perhaps another flavor I'm not thinking about??)

Thank you all for your help!

Kevin

My grandparents had one at their ranch and I remember that it was really good at cleaning clothes and the agitator and tub were one piece of molded plastic. Way cool!

Zippo Fluid

Kevin, go to your local tobacconist, pick up some Zippo lighter fluid and a Macanudo Portofino or Hampton Court cigar.

1) clean the rollers with a clean cloth dampened in the fluid.
2) after step one is accomplished, sit back and relax and enjoy the cigar, and your favorite Cognac and reflect on a job well done.

Hey Kevin - it's dark inside the Skinni M....should I come over and hold a match above your head while you clean the rollers? Ha!

Recommended in the Frigidaire Tech-Talk repair books. Zippo is usually available in the tiny smoking product section of most grocery and drug stores.

If you are lucky, Chico and Harpo are available also, and if not, you may become Groucho.

Hey Kevin,

The lighter fluid works like a charm. I used to use in my 1/18's all the time!

another Skinni Mini question

While we are at it, does anyone have a Tech-Talk that describes how to remove the control dial? We have a new timer for this unit, but can't figure out how to remove the knob. Duh!
