Hello,
I'm looking for a part for my Kitchen Aid dishwasher KD-21A series purchased in 1986. The part is a screen that is discontinued see pic. I contacted a few of your members through e-mail already but thought I would send out a message to all. The dishwasher has been working great before the screen became torn.
If I'm unsuccessful in obtaining this part, any suggestion on a new/replacement dishwasher since from reading some of these messages there are plenty of knowledgeable members.

So? Where is the tear?

Is this your washarm support?
It is one hell of a damned shame what Whirlpool has done with the Kitchenaid replacement parts.
However, even when available, this was a pricey item.
I have a few as I am sure other members do as well and have to say I am just a but reluctant to get rid of any spares. I have 3 21s to worry about right here in the family, 2 of my own and the one I put into my Mother in Law's condo before she passed away.

I have one I burned the screen off of by accident with muriatic acid which is in good shape but needs fixing and I think 2 brand new ones.

There are places that sell very fine mesh like that and it is a simple deal to take the support apart and replace it with a stainless or brass screen.
Mc-Master Carr sells screening of infintely available fineness. Just try to figure out what yours is and you will be home free. You can cut a piece, and then recsrew the pieces together and it will be held in place perfectly. I will check and see if I have a spec on it. If worst comes to worst, I will part with one for you or if anyone else wants it. It is used but in good shape.

Steve, thanks for the response, I think I'm going to take your advice and just try to fix the screen and if this doesn't work maybe we could work out something with the used part you have.
The picture of the part is brand new from a whirpool parts website.
