Are all the rinses on this machine cold, or is it automatic select? Nice looking machine. But it does look like SQ saved some money on the panel design from previous years. But it's whats underneath the covers that counts. |

Yeah all the rinses are cold. There is no "dumbing down " of the water temps for the wash cycle. Warm is warm and Hot is whats coming out of my water heater at 140. Rinsing is superb with this washer. Extraction I will have to admit isnt bad but its not like it was with the front loader. The washer does get up to 710. What I might do is with the final spin is to run the spin cycle twice to see how much more water I can get out of the clothes. But I will say that its nice to finally be using water to get clothes clean and rinsed out well. Plus and I know some people could care less but I care...its nice to get the wash done in 35 minutes per load instead of 2 hours like the Maytag took. This alone will save me time and I banged out 3 loads in 90 mins. I love that!

Well that Maytags were new in 2005. The washer was having issues like a TE code and then the recall on them with a chance for a fire. Then for the past 3 weeks the bearings were sounding kinda odd and I was finding grease spots here and there on the clothes. Then on Sunday she decided to yak up globs of the stuff and was leaking then I got a poof and then nothing was happening. Smelled like something electrical...you know that acrid smell that you just know something is not right. Tried to restart her but it was no go. She will make a nice Toyota someday. I will have to say this one thing. We have a Samsung fridge that we have not had any problems with. This washer Maytag should have thought twice before farming it out to Samsung in Korea. The reports on Epinions will make ones hair stand on end when ya read them about that washer. The dryer has been good but I know eventually I will want the Speed Queen dryer. With that dryer it has a nice large door opening. The Maytag is a tad tight. |

I take it that you had the Maytag hauled away? That SS cylinder would make an awesome flower planter/pot. |

Jeff I am fully aware of the sharp edge on the softener dispenser. When i had my Amana washer it was the same way....with a much smaller opening so i got nailed quite a bit. I eventually had to take it out and use the cap that came with the washer. Alliance needs to retool the mold and make a softer edge to it.

2 hours!? Wow.. My FL takes about 45 for a load. Be ready for your water bill to go up, and water heater (Gas or Electric bill) |

45 minutes? On which cycle? As for the difference in water and energy bills, the first of those is negligible, and the second is probably non-existent. Most front loaders take 1.5 - 2 hours per load. |

45 min on the speed cycle which prob is a 5 min wash and no spin between rinses and the other 40 min is the washer trying to decide to spin, like my LG used to do. |

I have the GE "FridGEMore" model, and no, it don't spin for 40 minutes of trying to figure out what to do. This is on normal cycle with extra spin. |

Never would have thought of taking the wash drum and making a planter out of it. The SQ washer is basic and 1 speed. I figure I rarely ever use gentle on a top loader and with this washer the Handwash/Delicate wash cycle is like a Maytag FabricMatic system where it washes and soaks. I wanted a basic washer since I have the tenant from hell and he is brutal to machines. We got this washer because it can take quite a bit of abuse. No warm rinse and its pretty straight forward. As far as my Mieles go...I had my fun with them and sure they are very well made but the dryer is rather slow. I tried something a few months ago where I had my Maytag 613 and I used to Miele dryer to dry. The Miele dryer was super slow. Granted it pulls a rather huge amount of air thru the load but it lacks heat. Unless a load is spun to within an inch of its life like it is with the Miele washer then its a rather slow dryer. The Miele washer isnt for people with pets. That Honeycomb drum design is nice but it doesnt let hair thru and its kinda vicious to fabrics. If I use the Extended Wash the clothes emerge clean but they look like they are rather tired looking. So its time to give them the heave ho. I am loving my SQ washer. I will get the dryer soon. |

Very nice looking SQ. There is only one dealer that carries them here now - a long-time TV/Appliance dealer closed a while back. I've been wanting to see the new line in person but haven't had a chance to get over there. I'm surprised at the Miele washer and dryer. I often wondered about the honeycomb drum's ability to remove heavy soils and hair, etc. so that really isn't a shocking revelation but then my Duet isn't the best with pet hair either. Do you know what the wattage is of the electric dryer? I can't find the info on the Miele website. |

The funny thing is about this washer is the breaking in period. When it arrived it was making this popping sound then it stopped making that sound. The transmission also had to break in and the washbasket indexes like a Frigidaire washer WCI made of course. I know that over time the indexing will stop since the brake pads need to get the film of grease off. The spin is interesting where its slow spin during drain then it will ramp up to 710. She sounds very Maytag-esque. I love the lint removal and it makes it easy to not use the dryer to hang out the laundry to dry. Friends of ours have the SQ dryer and they love it. What amazes me on the dryer is how the auto cycle works and how well it works ...without an electronic sensor system. Very accurate drying. I will be getting one soon. And this model. |

Does anyone know if this machine uses a VFD system or has a standard Split-Phase motor? |

Mike, it took about six months for the indexing to (mostly) stop on our AWS76NW washer. After a year it still hasn't stopped completely, but it's less than 1/8" now. |

well our water bill includes the sewer bill and it usually runs about $118 every 3 months. Not cheap. The water usage on this water is rated an "average" 31 gallons per load. One thing I will say that it fills up fast. On warm both valves are open fully and it takes about 3 mins to fill. One thing is that with the Max fill the water level is 2 rows below from the top. I stick around and use the handy dandy reset feature to add more water to the top row of holes. I might tinker with the water level switch and rest the screw to fill with more water. |
