It isnt a Nexus or a Quick and Clean model. It is simlar to this one:

The above machine is an FL1032. Introduced in 1990, it was one of the first models to be built to the 'Nexus' design.

FL1016

Here we have the FL1032's predecessor the FL1016. Built from 1989 to 1990 this was one of the last models to be built with the old drum and solid tub construction. Spin speed was 1000rpm.

FL815

The 800rpm version of the FL1016, this had an induction motor.

It was the FL1032 then.

No it isnt the FJ1033 because it doesnt have Jetsystem and it just has the standard Zanussi push in and turn dial.I dont know if that model has a matching dryer or not.

My Mum had a Zanussi Washcraft for years and years and later a Jet System (see link). I don't remember the washcraft much but the Jet System was a fantastic machine. We had it 11 years until the bearings went and it was replaced.

I honestly couldn't say. We got rid of the Washcraft in 1993 (I was 3) and replaced it with a useless Electra thing which I remember being awful. The Jet System came in '96 and was the first washing machine I had that I really noticed the results and started taking notice of the features of the machine, build and performance - rather than just watching it go round and round as a kid.

Easy Iron push button on the Zanninghouse

Hi Chris,

does it change the spin pattern (variomatic/pulse spin) ?

Definately the Zannies have ever been the best italian made washers, along with the real Philco-Bendix

...this old REX . Rex is the main badge used by Zanussi on italian market. Other badges are (were) : (Castor), (Naonis) and Zoppas (this was main Zanussi's competitor - now Zoppas family trades mineral water)

stone aged rotorack dishwasher

mid/late sixties. The detergent dispenser was a "bell" hung up to the rack. A temp-sensible latch caused the "bell" bottom opening when the wash bath reached the target temp.

I have no idea exactly how the spin cycle works with 'easy iron' engaged. I do know that it has a maximum 900rpm though and it does lengthen the cycle.

Our next door neighbor has the FLE 1115 W Aquacycle 1100.It is a good washer but once they washed bath-mats on their own, the washer kept on balancing and balancing until it finally give up and nearly ripped the floor up!

When we wash towels, 910 times in most machines i have used, they get unbalanced. Here are some cases (lol):

Our old Hotpoint WM53: We washed a 34 load of towels and on the first spin, i heard something banging so i went into the kitchen and the drum was almost hitting the door so i had to turn it off.It did this twice.

Our new Hotpoint WML 540: Again, i heard lots of thuds from the kitchen but the machine cut out before i got there and give me an error code.I fixed it though.

My friends Whirlpool Inspirations AWM 328: Again, the drum was almost hitting the glass door but not as bad as the Hotpoint WM53. I was thinking to myself," It wont spin". Then, a couple of second later, BANG, boom, boom! The machine actually jumped of the floor. It was only a burst thankfully lol.

Has anyone had any experiences like these? If so, please reply.

Electra

aquarius1984's profile picture
There were 3 possible Electra options you could of had in 1993.

Hotpoint, in the Creda style.

Servis, (Quartz) there may have been backstock held by independants which gradually sold through especially if it had been unpopular in an area

Servis (Merloni) made machines bearing the Electra badge,

SO it may not have been a Hotpoint by all accounts :)

It looked like a Creda. It had 2 dials on the right hand side - a delay timer and a program dial...and about 4 square buttons in the middle, with the push in/pull out dial operation. And it was a 1200 spin. It was all white but I remember there was also a model that had a dark grey door and control pannel and no delay timer.

It was horrid. We had trouble with it from day 1. First, the delivery men forgot to take the travel brackets out of it. Then the door lock went, then the pump went, then the outer drum bit started waring away at the back and we had to have all that replaced. When the motor went on it, my mum decided just to sod it and get a new one.

haha ive had a whirlpool aqualine 1300 that used to jump and hit the glass with sparks.
the hoover electra 1100f (hoovie) iit used to jump all the time but since i was silly and put in a bath mat on its own it ripped its right suspension leg and the thing on the end of the leg completely off. so now when its severly OOB it doesnt jump it just pulls its self out of its suspension and i have to rush to it tipp it upside down and put it all back together again haha.

and mums jetsystem everynow and then it jumps a couple of times and gets on with it but it nerly never does it. its just a loud helicopter noise i wana replace the suspension so it would live up to its name "super silent". the worst ive had is the whirlpool by far. i miss it

I think it was a TOL at the time. It was a crackin' machine. It has the pop out dials that made the whole front of the machine look flat. I think it has a program dial and a spin speed dial. And of course, the door lock light above the handle. I really miss that machine actually

AquaCycle

I was expecting you to say it was an Aquacycle, hence your user name!

The Jetsystem must've been top of the range then i think yeah. Don't think Zanussi had a digital machine during the time this machine was made. They had the Computawash (FLE3000) like has recently been on Ebay, which was mid-late 80s, but i think the first digital machine to follow it was the IZ machines with the tilted drum in or around 2000/2001, so your Jetsystem mustve been top end at the time.

Did it have RSI? Ive noticed some of the Jetsystems of this era (with the white control panels & buttons with coloured strips on them) don't say RSI on them, but others do.

How was the water level on it? Ive used the next generation 'Jetsystem Excel' in a rented flat but it was really tight on water, hardly used anything. And i never noticed the Jetsystem actually doing anything either. Was yours abit like this or did it actually spray the water onto the laundry like the first Jetsystems?

FL1012...

Can the rinse sensor make the machine skip a rinse if the water is clear enough?

Post# 369980 , Reply# 59   8/6/2009 at 08:37 (5,370 days old) by fl1012 ()
HooverKeymatic...

Im really not sure. I would imagine the purpose of it is for something like that, but on the machine i used with RSI, it used so little water i should think you'd have to run it about 3 times through the entire rinse cycle before the water ran clear!

Would make so much more sense if Zanussi just programmed the machines to use enough water in the first place!

1997 Zanussi Input FL15

zanussi_lover's profile picture
and this type of machine let to the Zanussi Input machines from 1997, which looked like the Small Door Electronic XC washer dryers, only the control panal was on top, so it stopped people bending down to set the machine

it had a special function, where you could save 3 of your most used programmes for future use.

these machines let to the development of the IZ washer and the XC Jetsystem/Aquacycle machines from 2000-2002

with the evolution of the XC to XC6 to the timeline series from 2004-2006

I haven't seen an input in action, but i remember seeing them in a 1997 zanussi brochure

They had a Zanussi FDJ1500 washer dryer on absolutely fabulous after they remodelled the kitchen, this was after 1995 (series 3)

pre 1995 , they had Darrens washer (FJ1033) on the first episode, and a FL series washer with 2 dials which was swopped round on several episodes in the first and second series.

in the first episode they had an early 90s slim line zanussi dishwasher next to the washer.

the model for that washer dryer was the WJS1265W, we were going to buy one of those, but ended up getting the FJS1225W washing machine, as my mum and dad wanted a kingsize bed, so a big drum to put the sheets in.

Nobody has mentioned this machine yet!

Saw mention of the word 'digital' above and instantly thought of the machine below.

Appearing towards the end of the Washcraft era, and on sale back in 1984, I give you the....

Zanussi Z2001IS - Input System.

A superb looking machine.

I think this machine was Zanussi's first foray into the world of digital, chips and computer control.

The rather fussy facia show below - but what style!

There was a further version of this machine called the ZE2002IS, which would have been replaced in the model lineup by Saj's FLE3000 Computawash.

Well i think i can quite safely say i got my original statement about the Jetsystem being the top of the range totally wrong, but at least it's stirred a few memories and got some great looking machines remembered!

I mightve seen the Directa models in our local Co-op when i was younger now ive thought about it. The flip down control panel coloured green on the 'flipped down' side has just jogged my memory :-)

I wonder where these have all gone, they mustve sold to SOMEONE!

I am wondering: What exactly happened to Zanussi? Who bought them out? Where were they made? Would anybody have photos of the factory? I am wondering because there seems to be a lot of interest, as they must have been out of production for a while.

They became apart of the electrolux group in the early 80s! And are my favourite brand ever! There is alot of talk about there old machines as they were absalutely brilliant, reliable great styled machines!

The "food chain" if you like is now Zanussi, AEG & Electrolux is the flagship brand!

The prices of electrolux models reflect there aim for it to be a top of the range brand with top of the range features.

Tricity bendix is not avaliable as a brand for much longer though they are still kicking around.

I didn't know Tricity Bendix weren't being made anymore. Shame. My Mum has one but branded just "Bendix" and my Dad had one for a while but he replaced it with a washer dryer.

When I typed 'Tricity Bendix' into Google,I clicked on the link saying Tricity Bendix (Well of course lol) and i was just redirected to the Electrolux website.I sure do hope our oven door handle doesnt snap again.

Don't worry elux are great with spares! There obligated to make spares 5years after somethings discontinued!!

And you can still get parts for early zanny washers so i shouldn't think it'd be to big a problem for you!!

Big shame about Tricity Bendix being dropped. They were an excellent budget brand, though i seemed to find them in smaller electrical retailers rather than alongside Zanussi models in Currys, which mightve been why theyre rare by comparison.

Also, because theyve never had an Electrolux badge on them like AEG & Zanussi, people who have owned a Tricity Bendix may stray to a totally different make like Indesit (God for bid) when the TB packs up, as theyre unaware that a Zanussi or AEG is basically the same type of machine, thus costing Electrolux group a few sales. Bad idea me thinks.

I will never buy another Zanussi/AEG!!!

I have an AEG 16810 washer dryer.... 5 years old and the mother board is going! (Stops and blacks out mid cycle) In years gone by, AEG and Zanussi were one of the best! Now I think the joining of Zanussi, AEG, Tricity Bendix and Electrolux have destroyed the good names they all had!
My friend has a Zanussi 1400 spin washer 4 years old and usage was for a single person, his mother board has gone this week. He's going for a Bosch in the hope it is longer lasting!
My Zanussi sensor and condensing dryer is 4 years and I have had nothing but intermittent sqeaks and rumbles since I bought it and the "service force have done nothing but fob me off with pathetic excuses until the dryer was out of warranty....

So from now on, it's ging to be either Bosch or Miele for me!!

..that is disapointing. My Mum has a 2006 model Bendix and touch wood, so far have had no problems. I've always thought of the Zanussi/AEG/Lux/Bendix brand as being one of the better brands on the market today

Zanussi XC WJS1665W

Hi all

Here's my XC WJS1665W 1600 spin washer/dryer, purchased new May 2001. You can also see my AEG slimline dishwasher of the same age (which worked perfectly until 3 weeks ago).

Unfortunately the WJS1665W died in 2005, the control panel was always flaky from just out of warranty, and the Start button sometimes took several presses to work. Other than that it was a brilliant machine, with JetSystem, and the Zanussi spin-rinses. Rinsing was excellent ('total exchange'), even though it used very little water.

Over time, the start button became more and more temperamental, and the machine would sometimes just stop mid-cycle for no reason (no error code).

The bearings started to wear, so it was replaced with a Bosch that lasted only just over 2 years but that's another story.

AEG Electrolux L14850 washer/dryer currently. Very quiet, but very odd programming - eg short bursts of spinning on the synthetics cycle between rinses, but the pump cuts out almost as soon as it's started spinning so no water is extracted. Also on some programs (cottons included), hardly any intermediate spins between rinses. Rinsing is therefore appalling, particularly on the synthetics cycles. Not one of my best buys although I think the newer (current) range of AEGs is better.

It has the JetSystem similar to the Zanussi, but no spin-rinses.

I remember my aunt having a Z949T (semi-integrated Z939T) from about 1981, which was still working perfectly with its original induction motor when she had a new kitchen fitted in 2008, which included a "free" Zanussi washing machine. I wish now I'd rescued it from the skip as I'm sure someone on here would have liked it!
