I've been laundering entire household of 9 ever since I can remember. started in early 90's. my mum had a basic model Phillips which lasted a few years.Every machine after the Phillips rarely operated by anybody other than myself.
A front loader washing machine is not ideal for large family's, but if managed consistently every thing should go swimmingly, but this is not the point...

the point : )
Returned home and could hear my beloved Speed Queen doing her thing!?! found laundry door open and machine roaring away. confused I opened the lid.

My brothers girlfriend decided to 'spring clean' his room and took it upon herself to do his laundry too. What should have been two large loads she crammed into one.-hoping to score a few extra kisses instead all she did was PISS ON MY BATTERY! My anger could possibly have been similar to a that of road rage.

Now feel maybe I overreacted by becoming so angry. She obviously thought so.

please share your thoughts on this: would you be annoyed if you were to unexpectedly find your washer running?

I have only one roommate, and I do laundry together. But if someone were to pack my Frigidaire completely, I would be totally pissed off. When I lived with some other friends, and had my Shredmore there. A few people overloaded it, and I told them if it happens again I will take the washer and dryer out and they can all go to the crappy laundromat down the road. Things changed things really quick.

You are not in the wrong on this..............

kick her and your brothers BUTT.....take her outside and B-SLAP the fake blonde right out of her hair!!!!!!!!!

this happened once with one of my brothers girlfriends......HELL has no fury like F**KING with my machines.....they both avoided me for several months after that, he even offered me new machines, and I was soo ticked I refused, I gave him advice in front of her, get a new girlfriend, she ain't WIFE material.....

Louis ... stand your ground and let it be known ... and if they think your overreacting, take her car for a spin at 50mph, and then slam it into reverse, don't think I didn't do it, left it on the side of the road and walked home, then I cooled off and felt better....this idiot ended up being his 3rd wife for 6 months, I could have told him that the day the met.....why should it have suprised me, he's been married 5 times, wife number 2 and 4 were the same person, wife number 5 is girlfriend number 1...funny, different faces, all the same attitude....history repeats....as a joke at parties I introduce her as wife number 8, then I get corrected by them....like that makes world of difference!!!...lol

Everyone at my house knows that if they so much as fold a wash cloth on my machines I will hunt them down and reduce them to tears! I specifically have one washer and one dryer that anyone can use and if they decide to use one of my machines... They won't live to tell the tale!

A WEEK after I got my brand new $2,400 stainless steel Miele washer, my mom's husband's 32 year old son did laundry in the correct machine but decided to put his laundry basket on the brand new Miele and left a long DEEP scratch on the stainless steel top. I have not said a word to him since even though he lives with us. That was 2 or 3 years ago! One of my reasons for buying the dryer to stack on top of it was to cover the scratch up!

I agree with you 100%. I do not like it when anyone uses my machines. My ex-wife's cousin and her family decided to stay with us for a couple of weeks. I couldn't wait until they left. She insisted on doing their laundry in my machines. Until then I was the only one who used them, doing laundry for a family of 5 for a long time. I thought I was the only person who felt this way. Stand your ground. no one has respect for other peoples property these days.

Louis---If you feel like you overreacted, then tell her so. You don't even have to apologize, just let her know that you felt she had used the machine incorrectly, and that you'd appreciate it if she doesn't use the machine.

Tell her that not only does overloading a machine shorten the lifespan of the washer, it's also bad for clothing and inhibits cleaning. Show her what a proper-sized maximum load looks like.

I have a fair number of overnight guests during the summer months, and I always offer the use of my washers if they have some laundry they'd like done. I sometimes shake my head at how they choose to sort their loads, but as long as none of my clothes are involved, I just look away and close the laundry room door. If they aren't used to using a front-loader, I steer them toward using SA8, which won't oversuds. It seems it's almost impossible to suds-lock the Frigidaire top-loader, even with a quadruple dose of Tide.

No matter what, I always maintain that human interactions/relationships trump washing machines. None of us want our machines abuse---especially if they are vintage---nor should be expected to tolerate it. But no machine (washer or otherwise) is worth a serious falling out with another person. Life is too short!

I'M GOING AFTER THE BITCH...WILL POST PICKS. BEFORE BETWEEN AND AFTER AND THEREAFTER;

If your idea of vacuuming is rape and torture then do it to YOUR own vacuum. she has done irapiorble damage mine.
chocked up with glass, till slips and THE BAG WAS SOPPING WET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It suddenly occured to me that her little ramage must of included my vacuum. the roller brush cant turn it's so ruined AND WET? its not a cheap "wet and dry" like her pussy. cant plug it in to see if it works because the house is sleeping, but even if it does still work it will never be the same.
I don't enjoy vacuuming, but still very meticulous when maintaining the vacuum. that part i enjoy... the time spent doing this hours and hours over the years she comes and makes it worth nothing.
heres the soppy part:
my late grandmother gave me all her appliances before passing away. she knew that would be the special for me. she told that when i use them she knows i will think of her and smile. Blah, blah. at least im to soppy now to be mad as hell but im gona light that's bitches tampon and blow her box apart.

she should think before overloading a washer i remember because i overloaded my 1993 inglis superb 2 washer i burn the moter we had to have a tech come in and fix the washer i think you had a right to be angry but getting back on topic maybe you should explain or put instruction not to overload a washer its better to do smaller loads witch makes a washer vintage or modern last longer than overload a washer and find yourself having to buy a new one because the 1 you have broke.

my post about vacuum is vulgar. please overlook it i do not sound like that.

Pierre, there are no instructions on how to use the machine. nobody needs to neither would they want to. I do all the laundry so there is no need for that. this will never happen again...trust me;)
in 2003 i visited in U.K for 3 mnths. the first call i got after arriving there was from my mother. i had to guide her step ny step over the phone on how to use the washer(then a indesit inox)

according to eyewitnes

she vacuumed her car that explains the water. my brother told me that when it rains her back seats get soaked, but the glass is a mystery because it was stuck in roller not pipe so that was when she cleaned his room. he cannot remember broken glass. only she can answer that. eyewitness warned her not to use it for her car as it may upset me. her answer to that was 'what the eyes don't see the heart don't feel' I couldn't agree more. the flip side to that is whats coming her way. as soon as the sun comes up....

Well, That's the reason why there are 2 connected machines in the basement. One machine a TOL rotary dial Whirlpool Gold DD machine that my mom uses and everyone else. I only use it when my machine is down. And the other is a 22LB. Primus W-10 Stainless Steel 3 phase commercial front loading washing machine that I mostly use. Dad uses this machine sometimes when blankets or rugs have to be washed, and he doesn't want to wait for me to start it. If I had more space and hookups I would have more machines in the basement, so the other machines have to stay in the shed. The Primus is hardmount and weighs 420LB., so getting it up the steps is not easy. The good side is that it can stand up to what ever abuse my family throws at it, except Phase Imbalance, and single phase line condition.

I do have a story that involved my Kenmore Electronic 90 series dryer...

I replaced the Maytag DE608 that the family uses about 4 months ago because the insulation for the back plate ripped, it was old and we needed a dryer that was reliable. I acquired a Kenmore electronic 90 series black set from my aunt and uncle. After doing a complete restore on it I put it in the basement for the family to use. Well, that was a BIG mistake. Just about every other time someone besides me would use the dryer, it would either be on some incorrect setting and the person would complain that their clothes would not be dry. I would often find that the previous cycle would have the Wrinkle Guard setting on. Last time I checked Wrinkle Guard leaves clothes damp!! There were other issues besides this like not cleaning the lint filter, or just plain old laziness and improper care. The time came where my dad and I had an argument over how to use the dryer. I decided that since no one could properly use it except me, that it would be better left in my shed until I could build my museum. So now there is an Estate BOL dryer(2 years old) that I got from my next-door neighbor, in which she mistreated, in the basement now. This dryer is the simplest to operate, and gets the job done. Even the stupid of the stupid should be able to operate it.

Except for the true housewives and domestic devas I know and love who keep their homes spotless and NEVER overload their washers, most females I know always overload their top loaders and go through them like throw away razors!!! One of the "valley girls' I know from Wiepio (YPO)Valley has a used direct drive Kenmore. She always overloads it and I just replaced the dogs and over rode her lid switch. She slams the door constantly and overloads it so severely that she, herself, adds water via hose to try and make the clothes overturn.Another girl from the valley brings her wash here and does in 3 washers what I would use 5 machines to wash. The last time she was here, I scolded her for even attempting to wash a queen size down comforter in my top loading SQs.I already overhauled two of them and just replaced the pump on another that had a feather pillow explode in it.Girls aren't majoring in any type of home economics at school anymore. They overload washers and dryers, use the wrong detergents, have no clue on how to bleach their whites white, don't even know what an egg cooker is or how it works and hate using a real mop and bucket with boiling hot water to scrub and sanitize the hard floors. They never set budgets nor do they ever blanch or freeze vegetables.Their mothers and grandmothers never tought them anything and they live at McDonalds,Subway,Wendies and Burger King.

Woman's Day !

Overloading my washer was disrespectful and insulting. soon all was forgiven-taking into consideration the girl was not meaning to piss me off.

it certainly became a lot more humorous after starting this thread. little did i know of my impending rage.
it hit me like a ton of bricks. 'oh God no! please not my vacuum' what were the chances? you guys know the rest...
I was too numb to be anymore angry than before. after my last post "eyewitness" tried to contain my anger and not loose perspective. to her its a vacuum and nothing more than a vacuum.
Confronted her on Womans Day was not making it any better, but there were plausible reasons for this confrontation.
cut a long story short... her parents came up for her and said i was being irrational accusing me of having a vendatta on their daughter ever since she started dating my brother??? finally concluded that this was a cheap shot at having them replace an "OLD" vacuum that was "on its last legs anyway" with a new one and it was not going to work!
I SETTLED FOR A CHEAP *WET'N DRY* ITS ALL THEY WERE PREPARED TO OFFER AS A REPLACEMENT how could I say no to THAT!!! I DID NOT EVEN ASK OR MENTION A Wet 'm dry... at least not to them;) They took the words right out of my mouth. no seriously. the end.

I used to share a house with 2 other guys. I bought the DD Kenmores that I used to have on credit. They split my payment and I did everyone's laundry. Except, I didn't fold, I just put their stuff in baskets at their room doors. I charged $5 per load to fold and $1 per item to iron. They paid it, and no one else used my washer.

I honestly reckon a lot of these people would benefit from a front loader. At least if they overload that and it stops working, they'll have the pleasant task of taking out the sopping wet clothes and have water spilling everywhere. Of course they'll blame the machine.

When I read consumer reviews about excessive linting, undissolved detergent, poor cleaning and damage to clothing in new top loaders, I know that it's not the machines' fault. Mercy me if I should suggest such a thing though. I have witnessed so much appliance abuse by people who truly think that they are model home economists.

I knew this one lady, she used to write articles for one of our leading women's mags on good housekeeping. When she retired, she downsized and decided to do her own cleaning. So she went out and bought herself a TOL Miele sweeper. After a couple of months it stopped sucking and she got all upset after having paid top dollar. When the service tech opened it up and found a burst dustbag she was amazed. It never occured to her that it needed a bag change.

At work, where we have a couple of bagless uprights with clear plastic dust receptacles, people will continue to use them even though they can see that they're brimming over. I guess the noise and motion of vacuuming is enough to convince some folk that its doing the job. I needed to use one of them the other day and had to pick out the heavily compacted dirt by hand, before getting it functional again.

Another lady at work used to always set our washers on the highest water level and grossly underload them. Then she'd bitch about water consumption. Others at work throw the detergent all over the machines, as if they are having epileptic fits in the laundry. There is always heaps of washing powder in the conditioner dispensers and the tops of the washers are constantly caked in the stuff.

But, perhaps it is I who is out of touch and wrong about everything. Maybe I need to stop fussing and start throwing detergent all over my washer like pixie dust. Throw in all my dirty laundry, without sorting. Then stand on it to make room for some more and dial up a small load to save resources and the environment.
