Some one commented in the recent thread about the Philco how cool it was to see a washer without the cabinet, so I present to you a Naked Maytag

At a Wards Store in the Manassas Mall in Manassas VA,they had a newer "Nude" Maytag and a "nude" KN machine to show you the diffrence in construction of the two. This was in around 1998.The Maytag washer they sold had the "Load sensor" agitator-a copy of the DA agitator in KN machines-A Sears store was at the other end of that mall. They had price wars and intense competition with each other. Was interesting to visit their appliance displays in those days. Both stores liked to "demo" their machines-Washers and dishwashers. The Nude machines in the Wards store weren't functional-they had "cabineted" ones for demo.Sears had the glass front and tank DA washer for your veiwing pleasure.-and the glass front dishwasher.

GLASS FRONT DISHWASHER

Yes I rember the glass front dishwashers in a near by SEARS store when I was a kid. I would take the esculator down to the basement level where the appliances were and watch the dishwashers run while my mother shopped.

In those Manassas Va Sears and Wards stores-Sears and Wards seemed to try to "outdo" each other in their washer displays.Wards had a "demo" model(had the glass front and tank)had a salesman do the demo-He first put ping-pong balls in the demo Maytag machine-You could watch them circulate around.the machine had the "Load Sensor" agitator.-A Maytag version of the KN DA agitator. Then the Wards salesman put light bulbs in the machine with the ping-pong balls-it circulated the light bulbs without breaking them?Could another washer do that test-has any Applianceville member tried the "light bulb" test?
At the Sears display they had a KN DA washer with the glass front and tank agitating a batch of very colorful rags-you could watch them circulate. You could do the demo yourself-the Sears machine had a "push to Demo" button-used it many times. The Sears display also had the glass front dishwasher with the "push to demo" button as well.Tried that one too.The Wards store didn't have the glass front dishwashers.

motor size

Hmm, surprised to see nly a 1/3 hp motor when most machines had at least 1/2, with a few having 3/4 hp motors.
