Folks,

Just trying to use a new very old Sanyo portable washer and I can't get the "button trap" to turn to clean it. I'm assuming that this can be a big problem as a clogged trap will cause flooding and such. The other one I had, which died, didn't have this type of trap.

While we're on it....the other machine stopped pumping water out and flooded my apartment. Any thoughts? I haven't gotten rid of it yet. I don't know a thing about fixing these...

If it is the one I'm thinking of, there is a trap on the right lower side of the machine that has a drainage stopper and you can unscrew it. The pump on my machine will stop working if I do not leave a little water in it when I finish using it. The pump is enclosed in a metal housing under the trap. I think since the motor is shaded pole, the bearings need to be greased every now and then. Don't throw the machines away, They may be able to be fixed. I do think in your case, the pump needs to be taken out and thourghly be serviced. I know the pump in mine needs o be serviced, but I don't use this machine enough to remember to do it.
