17+ year old Maytag dryer

Try at LEAST 25 years. This model ceased in 1984, when the 12 series came out. The washer is either a 610 (one speed motor, tall tub) or a 710 (2 speed, tall tub). Both models have the same amount of buttons and button arrangement. The dryer is either a 210 or 310.

I would ask details about what and where the cat had it's "accident." It would probably only require a little disassembling and cleaning. It depends how mechanical you are and how much a person enjoys disassembling and cleaning. Personally, I get a kick out of tearing, cleaning, and re-assembling. Pretty much taking a piece of shit and turning it into like new (or better than new) condition. Nothing gives me more satisfaction.

Tragic accident, Deceased cat.

Tragic accident, Only thing that comes to mind is the cat must have ben inside the dryer when the dryer was turned on.

Sad .

Sad. I have a cat that helps me do laundry. I make sure he is out before turnning it on.

When my cat was a kitten and loved to get into everything, I would check the dryer drum multiple times to make sure he wasn't in there before firing up the dryer. One time I was in a hurry and forgot to check. I nearly had a heart attack! Luckily, he wasn't in there that time.

A bit off the subject

Maytaga407-- That washer looks just like one I bought in 1996 and made the mistake of buying a Front Loader in 2004 and gave that washer to a neighbor. I think I paid about $570 for mine-- I moved last year to a place that the Front Loader would not fit, so I ended up buying a "Whirltag" set last year. They are fine, but i miss the sound of that machine. I still see the lady I gave the washer to, and she told me I could have it back-- But knowing my luck, once I moved the washer here it would tear up.

Kitty Condo

My cat, Petunia, uses the dryer as a hideaway if the other cats are bothering her. Of course, I need to leave clothes in there and the door open. I look constantly in there, especially if the door is open.

This was a week or two ago.

Dan, if that awsher in Portland is anything like what friends of mine bought in like 1983 or 1984, it was a 3-speed combo extra large capacity. I don't think this particular version was aorund very long.
