I like this clever ad Whirlpool did. Its give you the impression of a appliance store or the Automat (the slighly older guys knows what a Automat is)

I just love the faboo outfits everyone is wearing! Such glam to go to the laundromat! >insert sigh< I wish people still took the time to dress nicely and have their hair done. BTW, I also wish I could get my linoleum to shine like that...

I'd be frightened...

if I walked into a laundromat like that. I'd think I was going to be on a bad "Twilight Zone" episode and get sucked down the drain. Besides, the way people dress today at the laundromat, the views can be very good...and without using lame moves or excuses.

I wonder how the home version of 'dry cleaning' compares, if it really can. I remember reading somewhere that the coin-op machines were difficult to keep running and the smell was awful. Sorry, on those occasions that I need something cleaned like that, I'd rather let someone who knows more about this type of cleaning.

Besides, if I begin to 'spark' with someone, I don't want the place to burn down. ;)

When I was Younger. From the age of 8 thru 20,I would travel either by bike, foot or bus to many different Coin laundries. Some were the Sunshine laundries using the Philco Bendix equipment,Some were Coin Clean using FRIGIDAIRE washers and Huebsch gas dryers as well as FRIGIDAIRE dry cleaning centers. Norge World had a few centers as well as Aldwash(made by Westinghouse)which had a few shops too.Whirlpool had a place in Essex that was called The County Tub and shared their washers and dry cleaning machines along with Philco Bendix,Zanussi, and Speed Queen's dry cleaning units that were similar(mabe even made by) the Bendix. My favorite one of all was the one in Dundalk that had all FRIGIDAIRE Jet Action Washers in 10 double lines of twenty washers in a row and 4 Big Boy front loaders.Every aisle had FRIGIDAIRE use and care signage that pointed out Rapidry,Jet Action washing and the infamous 18 minute wash cycle they were well known for.I'd get there on a saturday morning after walking through a pay dump and across the Amtrak Metroliner electrified tracks and train yard and I'd stay on the B&O track going from Rosedale to Bethlehem Steel in Dundalk. It would take about 45 minutes(longer if I played around in the dump and watched the high speed passenger trains swoop by going around 125 MPH!!!)to get there and because my Aunt Natilie lived about 2 miles from that laundry,I'd usualy talk her in to either driving me home or letting me stay to go roller skating with her 7 kids,my favorite cousins. When I'd do that, she'd not only take me back home but let them stay with us and have Mom or Dad bring them back.In the summer while school was out,we as a group would terrorise the other skating groups and take over the rink!We rocked!!
