Several weeks ago I found out a guy has a UM-4 Hobart dishwasher and asked me if I was interested. I am definitely interested in it and I made him a generous offer and hoping he (church) will accept it. Now the challenge.. How do I get the machine home safely to Victoria, BC Canada?

For shipping internationally (economically), the maximum size of the box for shipping international is 26 x 26 x 26, max 150 lbs. The cost for shipping the dishwasher using Fed EX 6 day Ground Transportation quite reasonable. These older Hobart dishwashers are smaller than the regular domestic and commercial newer dishwashers and it can be taken apart in to smaller parts and package separately.

I am trying to locate anyone who lives near Philadelphia (near the town of Medford, NJ) who is willing to help me. I am willing to pay your time and any reasonable expenses for helping me here in inspecting the dishwasher and package the dishwasher for shipment. I would like to be there to do it, if can make it work with my work schedule, however I am quite busy at work - trying to get extra time off is going to be a challenge.

I have a quick work trip plan for Toronto on September 16 and debating whether extend my trip and fly to Buffalo or Syracuse and perhaps meet someone there? Or also I can try to fly to Philadelphia? The alternative option, if someone can pick up the dishwasher and store it for me, and I can plan a quick vacation to prepare the dishwasher for shipping.

Please email and we can chat more. bobsochowski@msn.com

Cheers,

Bob

Watch out for Brokerage costs!

FedEx will nail you for those, Bob - and they aren't cheap!
If you can find a member in or near Medford that can help with secure packaging, look at services like YouCrate or Craters and Freighters. I have used both (YouCrate could not deliver to my house in a rural part of the Eastern Townships) and they were not that bad. I handled the customs paperwork myself - you just have to go in person to a Canadian Customs office and make a declaration, pay your GST, and your all set.
Be aware that flying to Philly and then renting a truck to get home again won't work. You won't get across the Canadian border with a truck rented in the US!
Email me if you would like further info - I have to run and I am not going to be in email contact till tomorrow.

Yes I do agree about the brokerage costs....can be a deal breaker!

If I can, I want to fly to Philly and take apart the dishwasher - ship it....so long as the size and weight do not exceed FED EX limits....

Does YouCrate, CRaters and Freighters ship to Canada?

Thank you for the offer Darren,

I have a meeting in Toronto on Tuesday September 15 and I am looking in to booking a return flight from Toronto to Philadelphia.

Before I book my flights I need to know if you or anyone in the area are willing to help me out in packaging the dishwasher on Wednesday September 16 around 4:00 pm onward?

To bad there is no wash-in going on.....

Bob
