Checkrate/Likes Along with the pig iron my neighbor had on the back of his truck, was THIS dishwasher along with the Zerowatt front loader from my other thread. The outer paint looks a bit weathered, and there was quite a bit of dirt that accumulated over the years. NorfolkSouthern

Checkrate/Likes Overall, the condition isn't too bad. There are not dents on this side, but there's a pretty good ding on the other. I'll get to that later. NorfolkSouthern

Checkrate/Likes Look carefully, and you'll see what I mean about the dent on the lower left of the rear cabinet. Also, all the push buttons were stuck in the down position and the labels no longer stick. NorfolkSouthern

Checkrate/Likes *And here's the dirt!* Yes, the very meat of this post. There is quite a bit of dirt and crud inside that tub and I was wondering if the motor would even spin! Also, note the detergent dispenser in the upper left. The bottom plate on the left side is gone, and the top part has a partially broken hinge. The right side appears to be intact. Does anybody know where I can find another detergent dispenser? NorfolkSouthern

Checkrate/Likes *I did some cleaning* And I also got the pushbuttons to work with some WD-40, and a little exercise for the controls. They seem to be fine now.

Checkrate/Likes *More on the outer cabinet* The casters took some effort to get rolling freely again. Some Dawn Dishwashing Liquid, WD-40, time, and effort finally paid off. And now I can roll it around the kitchen with no problem. There is a fairly big dent on the lower left back. This will eventually need straitening, which I will likely do with a rubber mallet. Or, perhaps I could take it to an auto body shop and see what they can do.

Checkrate/Likes *The insides* I ran both racks through my current-model Whirlpool, and it did an admirable job. There were quite a few spider webs, and some grass and other stuff that accumulated over time. It's much better now.

Checkrate/Likes *The detergent dispenser* It's still there, but the bottom of the left cup is missing. So if I want to run a full cycle, I would need to add the detergent after the first rinse. Yes, it's a bit of a hassle for now. If someone knows where I can get this part, I'm all ears! Also, note some of the rust behind the lid seal. This must be common with top loaders. Some more detailing and paint matching will certainly help here.

Checkrate/Likes *great pics!* the inside of that machine is exactly like the inside of the top loader rotorack sears lady kenmore i just had delivered to me by jim the trucker! same racks, pump, spray arm and tub! amazing your's runs with no leaks after all those years. i will post pics of mine as soon as i get another camera. i dropped mine last week destroying it. good thing i only paid 50 bucks for it on craigs list! beautiful dishwasher, love the control panel! does it have lites on it, mine is lit when cycle is running? mine will take some work to rebuild as impeller is stuck to motor shaft and bolt sheared off shaft as i was trying to loosen it. will have to drill it out and re-tap the threads! or replace motor. when you need a pump seal, let me know, i have extra! i'll give you one. they are on e bay for 2.99 and at that price you can't beat it! great machine! who cares about the dent, it still looks fabulous! classic dishwasher!

Checkrate/Likes Everything seems to work properly, but there had to be a catch! Note the photo of the faucet hookup. See something missing? Well, the plastic collar broke in a couple pieces, and the little ball bearings rolled off into the sunset, never to be seen again. So, I have to hold it to the faucet with my bear hands while it fills! So here's my other dumb question: Does anybody know how to fix this? Also, I'll have some more inner photos later, when I start to do some more cleaning. Soberleaf: Those seals will be greatly appreciated! NorfolkSouthern

Checkrate/Likes My Aunt Doris in MS got this same or very similar dishwasher in Summer of 1968; they left it in the house when they moved in 1991. Remember it being somewhat loud.

Checkrate/Likes *norfolk* you had asked me earlier in an e mail if i knew how to fix the faucet adaptor. you could cut the fill hose right as it leaves the adaptor and put a new snap fitting on it. you can get one at home depot or lowes. it is meant to fit onto a garden hose but you can reduce down to fit the size fill hose you have. i have done this on portable dishwshers before, it does work. when i get back to work on sat. i will look in our plumbing dept. to see what we have. outside of cutting off the hose i don't knoew of any other way to fix that coupling. unless you replace the entire coupling and hose unit, they are out there on the web but expensive. almost 100 bucks last time i checked. the fittings from home depot or lowes would be less than 20!

Checkrate/Likes My mom had the twin to your dishwasher. It was our first one. The back wheel came off and was then traded in for a built in. Just trying to remember what the cycle buttons were. Is the white button rinse and hold? I think the pink was cancle and drain. Was there a pots and pans cycle?

Checkrate/Likes *Cycle buttons* They control the wash cycle, like a standard timer. The white button on the left is the cycle changer. The blue buttons are pre-wash, short wash, and normal wash. In that order. the red button gives the option of maintaining a 145 degree temperature. NorfolkSouthern

Checkrate/Likes *Fixed the adapter* Well, sort of. I couldn't disconnect the drain hose from the hookup I had laying around, so I cut the lower drain hose off of it, and was able to connect the original fill hose. Meanwhile, I left the old drain hose attached to the original fitting from the dishwasher. Hooked the "new" one to the sink, and let the old one sit over the drain and viola, we now have running water! NorfolkSouthern

Checkrate/Likes *Let's go for a "spin"!* OK, it's down to the wire now. Got it all cleaned up, ran some water and didn't find any leaks. The buttons work, the lights work. Except for one little thing: The machine kept filling because the fill valve was stuck open. So I took off the back, removed the valve, cleaned it, exercised it a little, put it back together, cleaned the leads to the solenoid, and tested it. Problem fixed. Boy, they really made stuff to be repaired rather than replaced back then! So, here are the results. This is probably the first load the machine has seen in years, maybe even a decade or more! So no bob load, at least for now. None the less, the results are quite good, and I'd say we made some progress! NorfolkSouthern

Checkrate/Likes *glad you had another faucet hook up* to use. seems to me you could easily splice the drain hose into the new one. tub cleaned up nicely! and no leaks in the pump seal, amazing for being that old! i have not even begun to rebuild the one i recently got! it will be winter before i get to it i know! enjoy this wonderful classic dishwasher!
