Checks this out. If you look closely, you can see the GE logo in the bottom left corner of the control panel.

GE and Amana a match made in Hell, LOL

GE should have stuck with the Filter-Flo. The hotel I worked in had a 2003 GE top loader and it sucked!

I must say I love those knobs! Very retro looking.

Available only at Sears

If I recall correctly, those Amana-lectrics were exclusively available at Sears.

Dishwashers too!

Conversely, you'll see Amana dishwashers that are rebadged GEs all over the place here, complete with dark blue vinyl racks...

Huh! Who'd-a thunk it? Now I know how bird-watchers feel when they spot a hitherto unseen species.

Totally.

I think these are a good-looking set, and you can tell that it was right before GE hit the ground with their Plastic-Matic washers of Ill Repute. :-)

I loved my Amana, although it went through more belts and brake pads than my Audi. It certainly outperformed the taka-taka-taka-taka plastic-tub GEs that came afterward...

Actually those models were well after GE introduced their plastic line in 1996. If I recall correctly, those GEmanas (post Raytheon and pre Maytag) were from around 2002 or so. Apparently there was some kind of issue with GE production (strike, perhaps?) so GE contracted with Amana to provide a model. They were basically Goodman Industries built Amanas under the hood. I wonder if the main tub seals on those were any better than the Amana badged units

These were sold at Home Depot....I remember doing a double take when I saw the GE emblem in the lower left corner.
