My mom has a 10 year old WP dryer that squeals and grinds when it starts. What could be the problem? What would a repair like this cost if a tech was called in? Thanks, mtn1584 |

there are wheels the drum rests on that have rubber cating on them. The rubber wears out and causes a grinding noise.FSP has a kit including the belt for around $20.Lift up the lint filter top, remove the 2 screws inside on its front, tip up the dryer top using a straight screw driver.Remove the front being sure you remove the door switch wires carefully.Remove the drum to expose the wheels.Replace the wheels and belt.reconnect the wires and carefully line the front with the drumb making sure you have the drum aligned properly,no scraping or straining.Hold the front in,pull the top back down till it snaps back into the clips and retighten the screws where the lint screan goes.Set the timer, push the start button and check to make sure there's nothing scraping and there's heat and good air flow. While you have the unit open, vacuum all the debres that has acumulated like lint and dust.
