To add:
It runs very quietly just like my new one.. Doesnt appear to have been abused and there is no rust or damage... The agitatr is messed up as shown..What can i replace it with?? How well does this one work

Your agitator

Since what you're showing is actually the lint filter part of the agitator, those are still available from what I recall. You may want to check either partadvantage.com, partselect.com, or possibly repairclinic.com. You should be able to find the part number on repairclinic after you enter the model number on their site. Also, you can unscrew the two screws on each side of the control panel, and flip that part up. Now unplug the socket under the control panel that leads to the cabinet. Then, fabricate a wire to close the circuit on that plug. This will bypass the lid switch and allow the machine to run continuously with the lid open.

This will be an easy and worthwhile restoration, as all it will need is some cleaning. It should serve you well as a daily driver for many good years to come.

Thanks

Im still curious if theres another agitator i can put in there...

And this is my 2nd washer..My daily driver is a 2009 Whirlpool similar to this, but has the water temps that arent really "hot" or "warm" and its a bigger capacity...Oh and it has the dual action style agitator

Wow, finally an intelligent Craigslist poster: He correctly named the brand of both machines, noted that the dryer was gas (not the washer lol), and was correct in identifying their ages, as well as showing decent images (i.e., more than one, not taken with a cell phone). Nice find too.

Switching out the agitator:

Yes! Of course, I forgot to mention that you can certainly go get a Kenmore Dual Action and fit it right on spline, no problem. However, you would definitely need to remove the spin basket and get a Kenmore lint filter to snap underneath. That's because the Kenmore agitator draws water up the bottom from under the spin basket so the filter can collect the lint. when the machine goes into spin, that lint will fling out by the force of inertia. In fact, Repairclinic makes a set of plugs for the four holes under the agitator base that will do the same function as the "plastic snap on at the bottom" lint filter.

Happy experimenting!

I actually like the super sugrliator thats on it now that ive used it.. Bless my roommates boyfriend.. He got it all hooked up and working two days ago..Im not very, um, mechinacly inclined.. So he got it all solved.. And i wound up taking $20 worth of crap back

I will get pictures up tommrow, when i am up to it

My 2009 Whirlpool will soon be banished to a corner of the garage.... It came with the house (thank you landlord, not) and after using them both.. I love the older one.. So once i find another gem like this on (there is very little undisolved powder residue anywhere on it..)
