Calling Maytag Red Carpet Service: We have a washer owner's manual with pictures that are out of phase with the timer. It is agitating for rinse while it is supposed to be spinning after the flush spray rinse. It is draining from rinse when it is supposed to be filling and agitating. Please take a replacement page with you, remove the defective page and add the corrected page so that the washer will operate correctly.

I noticed that, too. Wonder how that gaffe got past layout?

Too funny.
Even back in those days it was assumed most Americans did not bother to read the owner manual.(Clearly, an Un-American thing to do). I'm sure that was what it was. Somebody just said "oh what's the difference, they will get the general idea" and they left it at that.

Except this isn't from an owners manual, its official Maytag sales literature in a beautiful binder!

what puzzled me was that it appeared that maytag had a solid tub with a rinse overflo, like a speed queen solid tub, at least thats what the drawing displayed......odd

Solid Tub

I believe it is a solid tub bolted just outside the perf tub and they spin together. Not sure why they bothered with the dual tubs.
