It looks like the Cabrio and Kitchenaid set are no longer available. I am now considering a Maytag set but am curious if this is too new to be a dependable care, can anyone help? Thank you!

EEEEEEKKKKK! Not even close to being a Dependable Care Newton Built washer. Dont even bother! Tons of issues with this design. From the Celcon plastic gears transmission to the Plastic drive pully. Leaks galore. If you want a headache get this washer....

And stay away from the dreaded Amanatags too. They have the SAV model numbers.

If you want a dependable washer, get a mid 80's Maytag true dependable care washer. There are a ton of them out there. Kind of boring, but will last forever.

Then of course, there is the Fridgidaire 1-18 too.

Neptunes...

C/L set #4 MAH4000 set. I actually own this same model set and as much as I love top load Maytag Dependable care laundry, you'd have to pry my Neptunes out of my cold, dead fingers...

A neighbor had this model and it blew out the bearings within 3 years (or was it less time?) sounded like a freight train when spinning.

I'm guessing water leaks displaced the lubrication.

I've had fairly good luck with the few Herrin built Maytag's I've picked up like the first picture. They run quiet, no leaks, people love the huge capacity. The 3 or 4 I've picked up needed snubber rings, about a 45 minute job. Don't count 'em out.

Still on the hunt

Can anybody tell if this is a dependable care washer/dryer set like the Maytags that were built to last?

Here is a close up of the washer control panel

yes it is!! The last rendition of them. It has varibale water level, 3 speed combos, and 3 temp combos. And 2nd rinse option. A secretary at work, with my assistance, actually bought htis model at a Maytag store. it was in their Performa line and was the only porcelain-tub model in the Performa line at the time. It's pretty much very similar to a 1994 dependable care.

Yep. These are the very very last look of the Dependable Care line. The washer probably starts with LAV3600. We sold plenty of these. Such a shame, such a shame.

Todd, that was the exact model she got, the LAV3600.

LAV3600/MDG2600

Thank you for all of your help, I am the proud new owner of a beautiful Maytag set built in April/May 2005. I can't wait to hook them up!

Very nice. They are pretty easy to service, too. Remember that the door on the dryer is reversable...
