NICE DRYER!

To get a modern dryer to work on 110v I did exaclty what the above guide (lower right side) recommends.

Time-temperature auto-dry however will not shut off my machine (on most settings) in that t strugles to get the drum to high-temp. I use "low-temp" and the minimum setting (of the auto-dry cycle) that just barely engages the heating element; and in that case it WILL shut-off the machine automatically.

WOW,

What a beautiful machine. I love the art deco door design this thing has. Is this one of those machine that has a turbo spin?

We had that dryer for a long time. Then my mom got a new set of Maytag 606's. The dryer went to my grampa's lake cottage.

How would you rate the performance of this dryer vs the 606 HOH?

I have never ever seen anything other than the DuoMatic--Greg's., ...) I've never seen a washer or a dryer until now!!! Looks like no temperature adjustment.

One simply baked one's items to dry! *LOL*

No temperature control, and rather hot high heat. All the better to deal with mainly natural textiles almost soaking wet from the poor extraction of washing machines and or wringers of the day.

One always thinks of the comic strip "Peanuts", where Lucy fetches her brother's (Linus)blanket from the dryer with a long stick. She flings the still hot blanket to her brother who jumps from being "burned". *LOL*

I'm not sure but I am thinking there was a temperature control.

I had this dryer, found in a thrift store in a small town just North of here. It was in beautiful shape but a very slow machine, worse than a HOH fully loaded. Only one temperature, but not too hot. The heater and exhaust inlet were at the front of the drum. The front of the drum was perforated with too much space between the wall of the drum cavity and the clothes basket - just like the early WP/KM and consequently, much of the heat seemed to go right into the vent making the vent tubing hotter than the clothes! I never felt the clothes got overly hot, certainly not like some other of the vintage machines did. Despite it's lack of major attributes in performance, it was a beautiful machine aesthetically - so very Truman-era and who could dislike the door and handle??
