My zanussi has died. Its got an timer fault thats make it do unusual tumbles and spin with no distribution and now its leakin like no ones business. So this now means i do not have a working collectable machine. I'm very upset.

Now the search begins for something else. Im bidding on a Zanussi turbodry Washer/dryer from 94. Hopefully i'll get that.

And of course looking out for something else as local as possible.

Darren

Hey guys, thanks for your comments. I've had this machine 3years. I love it so much. I will do what i can to get her on back on her feet.

In the meantime i have literally in the last 10seconds won a zanussi WDT1085 washerdryer!!!!!!!! Which has made me smile slightly!

I wish you the best of luck with that machine Darren. I had the slightly newer equivalent of it the WDS1183. Whilst it washed and rinsed well, everytime it spun it would be off across the kitchen like a kangaroo on a pogo stick! It eventually killed itself with its violent spinning. Either way I loved that machine, and wish you many years of happiness with yours!

well done on your new addition, shame about the old one though, nice new one, it looks to be similar to the tricity bendix aw1053w and the machines in that series, could i be right in saying the one you got is the zanussi version of the tricity bendix?
well done again

An excellent machine WDT1085 I have had the pleasure to own one for some time, But alas no longer. Shell rusted badly and the base plate cracked where shocks where mounted, shame.

Servisslimline
It is similar to the AW1053 in lots of ways, most of the components are the same; share the same motor, pump and so on.

So i now have the WDT1085....its immaculate...however..the seller was dishonest. he said it had been "damaged" in transit and something had gone loose. it was dark. I said i fix them and i would take a look. Seemed a nice enough guy.

Got it home...there is so much movement in the drum its ridiculous,..just like Paul and robs Hotpoint microtronic. So its bearings are shot to sh*t. Thats just my luck atm nothings goin right. *sigh* However. I want to fix it. Though im not entirely confident about doin my own bearing changes. I may pay someone to do it. I just hope there isnt to much damage to anything else. I may even buy a new drum.

So annoyin. I've loads of washing to do. And no working machine of my own to do it in. So i imagine the AEG is going to be very tired by the end of the week.

I'll stick some pics/video of the machine later.

Darren

Bloody Hell

It really ain't happening for you at the minute is it Darren :(

Make sure your feedback on Ebay mentions it coz thats out of order - it never said anything about damage on the advert did it?

See if a repairman will do you a discount for fixing both the Zanussis at the same time! Nightmare!

Good job you don't know my address, otherwise id be having to bolt my FL1012 to the garage floor, incase i see it disappearing in the back of a Corsa ;-)

Hi Darren,

Sorry to hear about your machine. I would ask the seller to give you some money back, that was so nasty of him.

I bought a Hoover Senior of a guy on ebay, that took over 2 months for him to deliver, I got in touch with Pay Pal, and all was sorted.

Good Luck Mate

Paul

Flippin heck.

Seems like its the season for mixed fortunes!

Bad luck Darren, though I am sure that you will sort it over time. Annoying that its time we never have enough of - or space.

Myself and Rob went and picked up a machine last Thursday and was crashed into on the way back home. Van drove into the back of us.
We are both fine, just aches and pains, as is my car and thankfully so too appears the machine! His van came off worst though and will require a new bonnet and grille (amongst other things).

Earlier in the week, whilst down at Mathew's, a newly acquired machine of ours (as yet unrevealed) decided, after giving it a new motor, that it was going to throw an electrical wobbler and promptly no longer lights up when the on off button is pressed. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Thankfuly wasnt all bad though - found Mathew a D6096 dryer, to match his A3110 and A3114 and of course handed over to Gary his A3060.

Plus was great to see people.
So a very mixed week.

Is the drum spider cracked on the Zanny Darren, hence the wild amounts of play?

Our Microprofile 9560, was completey cracked on two of the three arms.

Fingers crossed everything gets sorted for you.

paul

Hey guys,
The annoying thing was, he told me in the pitch black it had been "damaged" in transit and something had come loose but quite happily took the full £31 off me. cheeky c**t.

Very angry and disapointed but thats the direction of my life atm with current spell of luck. at least my newly single status allows me the time to correct these problems. Im well pissed off as he sold it as in good working order. How did he expect to sell it to joe public without them noticing?

grr. Well a full bearing set isnt to expensive. its just the effort and time. And obviously i may find more damage as i investigate. Hoping it will be an easy fix.

The drum was fairly loos on my machine, try putting the dryer on let it get hot and see of it all tightens up as mine did, she used to tap a lot on spin due to this and the lifters where also a bit loos but also went tight with heat.

Sorry your having a bad time at the mo Darren. Some people that sell things do that sort of thing. I bought a Servis about 3 or 4 years ago and they said the pump needed replacing. Yeah right. The circuit board had melted inside the machine and it was dead. No mention of that though lol. If you need any help let me know.

Zanussi bearings

Hi Darren,

When you come to do the bearings on the Zanussi WDT1085, just bear in mind you will need the drum cross piece as well as the bearing kit, 95 per cent of the time these are shot as well.
You will need a new tub seal as well.

If its any help:
50239964005 = drum cross piece
344783014 = bearing kit
1240159036 = tub seal

Washer dryers are always more time consuming but if you do it properly and look after the machine you will never have to do it again.

good luck!

Finally had time to get the zanussi apart.

Not good news, The belt had been spat off and everything was tight on the spider, so assumably the bearings have collapsed.

I'm not confident to change bearings especially with all the extra parts as its a Washerdryer. So im goin to price up what it would cost for Serviceforce to do it. & my other option is to contact my indepentant repairman who taught me loads when he repaired our hotpoints when i was a kid..however he's not savvy with zanussi's. So best get saving my pennies and reasearchin my options.

Forgot to mention, time to open a dispute with the seller who said it was in good working order, then i got there it'd be "damaged" in transit. And then i find it has f*****d bearings. I'll be gettin tht money back i think.

Bloomin heck!

with the amount of play on that drum, It looked a sure certainty to be a cracked spider.
I am shocked that bearings can be reduced to that state! Bearings maybe been dislodged from their assembly.

Bad luck that it is proving to be a lot of hassle. Cant offer any advice as have had virtually no experience of Zanussi bearings, although would yours be the same set up as our Hotpoint 1826 Liberator? If so, you could get some pointers via that old thread.

Ironically we also have another Zanussi, as yet not unveiled, which is in need of new bearings.

Good luck with getting your money back.

Fingers crossed it all comes out rght in the end.
Paul

Yes it looks a pig to do as this machine has a 50/50 split tub with about 17 bolts to undo and the condenser, fan unit and dryer heater have to be removed to get access this is not a five minute job by any means, nor the faint hearted. Hope you get it fixed soon.

Hey Lee,
Its going to be a b**ch to do so i've contacted a repairman to see what it'll cost and if it'll be any cheaper if i source the parts myself.

I'm currently disputing with the seller on ebay he can give me the money back to put towards parts!

Something good happened....at last.

Okay. So i've been havin worst bout of luck right now..without bein too personal or indepth.i was in a str8 relationship..have 2 kids..1 10months, one on the way..i've left my partner because im gay...came out once b4 and then tried to cover it up as had no support, depressed, yada yada.so ontop of leavin my family etc..i've been seein my son regularly..until now.my ex has started to be a bitch about access to the point of i have a solicitors appt on tues...my zanussi died...then my new zanussi was shafted on arrival..good times hey.

Well this weekend i got to confirm the fault on the newer zanussi and have contacted some repairman about what we can do to fix it and keep cost down.
Today i've tackled the WDT1061 to find out where the blasted leak was coming from...the spring from the cabinet to the drum is right next to the dispenser and one of the hoses was leaking so i assume an unbalanced spin has given it a yank to cause a leak. So i've sorted that and it seems to behavin just fine in terms of the timer issues. I ran it for 10mins on the drying function before i ran a cycle to warm it up as its in the garage.

So a small bit of luck for me in a shitty situation..heres a pic for you of the machine minus her lid

Darren

Hi Darren,

I'm sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having recently. There's nothing like doing some washing to take your mind off things.

As Lee says the bearings are definitely not an easy job on the WDT1085. Yes they were still good machines by today's standards, but not as solid as your WDT1061. The WDT1061 is much easier to repair, and having the old vitrous enamel tub the bearings are simple to replace.

With regards to the timer, if you do need to replace it eventually I may be able to source one cheaply for you at a fraction of the cost you'd normally pay. It all depends if that particular timer is available from my usual source in Germany.

Tom.

Thanks for the comments. Yea i agree with what your saying, I'm glad the leak wasnt a major one...for now *touches wood*, If the WDT1085 is going to cost me alot...i will have to give it some thought.

Well i want to keep her running so should i need a timer in future i'll definately contact you, i considered gettin some spares in for such eventualitys but didnt want to tempt faite.
