Please tell me why I should keep this machine

Like DaDoEs....I have 2 of them...which by the way I like the lid bypass switch you got there, I have mine on the back....anywho, the first one I got is a KQ0, all the problems in the world, all under warranty, once they replaced BOTH boards at the same time, 3 years and not a problem....Now the KQ2, the newest version, not an issue in sight, just for some reason you have to leave these ones unplugged for a few days at a time, because they build a static charge and the machine goes haywire, but if you leave it unplugged when not in use, never an issue, also the repair guy put a ground wire from the machine to the water pipe for extra measure....

NOW, as for cleaning, I did a home video, and it doesn't look like the clothes are moving, but fast forward while playing, those clothes are tumbling and moving all over, everything comes out clean, and you have to love the whitest whites cycle, the seperate deep bleach rinse, you cant beat it, I do almost every load on Heavy Duty, never a problem with the machine, and the waterfall spray is the best, especially during the rinse when you can see the water is clear....

probably only bad side is doing comforters, not much roll over, but all machines have a drawback somewhere...

but if your gonna sell it, around here they go for about $300.00 at the used appliance stores

Checkrate/Likes I'm thinking about dumping this machine. I totally rebuilt it, however I don't think that it cleans clothes very well. The parts are very expensive, and I think that is has serious mechanical design issues. It works perfectly now, but I'm thinking about dumping it before something else beaks on it. What do you guys/gals think? What price should I set for this machine?

Checkrate/Likes Whirlpool? Throw it away, in 18 months I had to call the repair service 3 times with my machine! I don't know what I'm going to do once the warranty expires!

Checkrate/Likes *Calypso - Collapso* It works perfectly now, but I'm thinking about dumping it before something else beaks on it. That makes no sense. Why dispose of the machine if it has been repaired and is currently working? I've been using a refurbished Calypso as my daily-driver since October 2008. IMO it cleans quite nicely.

Checkrate/Likes Maybe I should clarify my wording. By "dumping" I meant selling this machine. I'm not seeing how the clothes would really get clean by just being flopped up and down by the nutator. Use of powder soap is bad for these machines as it eats the cast aluminum of the joint assembly.

Checkrate/Likes *What do you guys/gals think?* Sell it NOW before it craps out again....AND IT WILL!! These machines were plagued with more problems than anybody could ever imagine.

Checkrate/Likes I see those on a somewhat regular basis on trade in piles. along with KM Calypso's. I leave them where they lay.....

Checkrate/Likes *what about vintage Whirlpools ?* Collapso is a self-explanatory nickname ... Bavarian made Duets from Schorndorf aren't built like a Mercedes .... Italian made whirlies have a bad reputation (Gabriele is not the only one to complain about) ..... What about vintage US made Whirlies ? Was their build quality comparable to Maytag and Frigidaire machines of the same age ?

Checkrate/Likes I had one under the Kenmore name and it was a piece of junk it did not get the clothes clean and whe the repair man came and said he was going to replace every part in the thing I told he that I was going back to Sears and get a standard washer and dryer.

Checkrate/Likes Thanks everyone for the input. I think I will sell it. $300.00? That's a good chunk for a used machine. It's a shame these machines are so bad. I figure, dump it now and get something else.

Checkrate/Likes I alternate washing in the Calypso and the vintage washer I have That way I know the clothes are getting clean depends on how dirty the clothes are
